Time to be a critic. Armia brought nothing in the game. 2 bad penalties, the latter resulting to the winning goal.
Yeah not Armia's fault that Ässät lost (well technically, but Ässät shouldn't have gone even to the ot after the chances they got), but yeah not a good game from him even with the few chances he got.

Armia didn't have weak game. In OT Ässät didn't have much more dangerous scoring places than Blues. Blues defended well and all the ässät did was cycling the puck in the boards. Only dangerous chances ässät created was in PP or straight attacks. Blues had better cycling game and passing in offensive zone. If blues continues to give 2 on 1 attacks they will lose this series sooner or later but if they don't give i doubt ässät will win this series with that game. This game means alot to Blues if they win this game i think the chances to blues to get semis is about 60-40. I'm still laughing people saying that blues is easier than kärpät and free ticket to semis. I think blues is painful, hard, disgusting to play against never want team like that against my team.

Going OT here, but yeah what I also saw during the regular season Ässät were dominating more against Kärpät than Blues. Their powerplay could have been killer and you never know about those Czech, but I also have a feeling that that team would have been not as bad for Ässät.

Game three Ässät being down 2-0 as the favorite against Blues and Armia as a healthy scratch. Got some chances in the two games, wasn't successful or that much of a help for the team that overall has been struggling since the second period of game 1. Too bad for him, but honestly not that suprised.

And back to the first line with his old linemates (Aki Uusikartano and Tuomas Santavuori). Blues leads the series 3-0 so even if this isn't his last game of the season he will likely be available to play in the U18's.

I've said it many times and my opinion has not chanced. Upside: winger version of Jeff Carter. I think this comparison really works for him.

Hmm... Thanks for the insight. Interesting. From the very little that I've seen I always thought of Joel Armia as more of a dangler, playmaker-type player. Instead of, a pure sniper like Jeff Carter. That was just a poorly based assumption though.

More like a dangler/sniper-type player, and Jeff Carter isn't a bad comparison.

I believe when Armia steps to NHL ice his game will be simplier. Not so dangler/sniper, only sniper. He would look for pass more because deking NHL D-man is hard job. However he is good at deking but he is not Datsyuk.

I know you (Juzmo) have seen more games than me. Once I listened the local radio of Pori the announcer told that Armia rarely misses the net and mostly on goal. But I would say that Armias weakness is that he is a bit "high n wide" shooter (just like carter btw). Am I right or the announcer guy. Looking at "shooting maps" I can see that he misses the net sometimes.

Armia has great vision and IQ to score a goal. His wrister is fast and accurate. Like todays goal he was in bad angle but saw an open hole and released his wrister. The goal here at 2:20 http://www.nelonen.fi/ohjelmat/sm-li...deo&vid=134449 Not the first time when he scors a bit like this.

Yeah he isn't that versitile in deking (some good moves and whatnot) than he is in the shooting. Armia atm is certainly more of a sniper and probably will be during his career like you said, but could see him also being one of the three first guys from a team in a shootout in the future partly due to his dangling abilities.

Edit. I'd say he mostly gets the puck on net, but obviously when he is shooting so much he is also missing a bunch of times.

Hah! I've heard that comparison before

If we look pure skill it is a good comparison but playing styles are different. Young Olli was very dirty player, he logged much penalty minutes more PIM than games played. He have one 100pim+ NHL season, I don't see Armia doing that. I believe Olli would have been chosen to "The best young athlete of Finland" award but he was too dirty. Btw Mikael Granlund won that award in 2009.

Agree. He has two great weapons: shoot or deke. Guys like Granlund and Olli Jokinen only deke and they have only one trick which they do everytime

Wild certainly need snipers to go with Mikko, PMB, Havlat, etc.
