How did he do today? Watching Zagrapan against him is to know what it is to see a first round pick with no drive.

Pretty good overall. Was also pretty physical and made some nice hits.

One pretty wrister from Armia to make it 2-0 for Ässät against rival Lukko in the first period.

Last night against Saipa nothing to write home about (from the whole team).

Edit. Made the 3-0 goal also happen and got an assist. Awesome dude.

Good to hear. Pretty excited for a guy we grabbed in the middle of the first round.

That wrister is mind blowing. He just makes a tiny flick of a wrist and he gets the puck up in a crazy angle with velocity. Sick. I am REALLy disappointed if he busts, this guy while far from perfect has what Finnish players often lack, great finishing (ironic huh? )

He now has 15 goals and 16 assists in 44 games this season. He had only five goals and six assists in his first 26 games of the season.

Sorry to jump in the middle, but I don't wanna go thru 31 pages. I have a couple questions for people more familiar with him.

How fast is he?
Is he more of a sniper/playmaker/power forward type?
What position does he primarily play? Different sites have him listed as either a RW or C
Thanks

1. IMO he always looks fast on the offensive zone but when it comes to defensive play he looks pretty slow.

2. He sure is sniper but he can play quite a physical game too.

3. RW

To be more precise, his first few steps look a bit awkward, but once he gets going he has a long, smooth stride.

The thing I love about the kid is he seems to be a gamer. That one goal against Sweden(I think?) was just a beaut. I can't wait to see this kid in Buffalo.

Lee and Sillanpää got Armia to a breakaway and he put it to the roof from close range. He has made a few of those this year

In the end, he got 1+1 today. Passed also an emptynetter to Lee who didn't get it in. Overall pretty solid game, imo.

Interesting to see he's eclipsed last season's totals with his torrid second half. Has there been anything further in regards to what was at the heart of his early season struggles? Was it the off-season illness?

I think it's a case of higher expectations from everyone else and himself, plus that he was already an established player and defensemen already knew what was coming. And once it didn't work out automatically like last year he lost confidence.

Did sitting out as a healthy scratch early in the season coincide with his rejuvenated success?

Little bit before WJC actually, he had a 3-point game at beginning of December, after which he's been playing at PPG+ pace. I guess the slump was partially caused by the sickness, or at least I think it affected his confidence. That mixed with little bit too high expectations and understandable lack of mental maturity to handle the situation at such a young age.
