Ässät played their first playoff game today and lost 4-1.

Armia was pretty bad imo. He was soft/bit lazy overall and made one big mistake which lead to 1-0 goal. Reminded me a bit of the early season's Armia. Maybe this just wasn't his day and he will be on fire on saturday. Or atleast I hope so

Armia just went to the locker room during Game 2 against JYP.

edit: Seems like nothing serious, already back on the ice.

Yea, hurt his knee when hitting Sami Vatanen. He went to locker room and was back in 5min so nothing too serious.

Overall Armia played OK today (definitely better then last game), but no points in 1-2 loss to JYP. I think Ässät will lose this series 4-0 or 4-1, Jyp is just too strong and their style of play is very effective against Ässät.

Armia's season is over. Hurt his knee when delivered that big hit to Sami Vatanen. Doesn't need surgery, 6 weeks of rest will do it.

Regular season:

Games played: 54 18g+20a=38p

Playoffs:

Games played: 3 0g+2a=2p

Glad the kid rebounded so well from his tough start and then continued to play well after thrust into a bigger role. Now, get his military service complete and see him in Buffalo in 2013.

Here's the hit where you can clearly see how his and Vatanen's knee hit each other.

So because of this his season is over? Though it probably would be over anyway after the next game

Military service, a year left on his deal with Ässät and having to recover from his knee injury... seems pretty unlikely.

next to none. Our Finnish posters could tell you more, but I believe he has to do mandatory military service next year.

Ok so I haven't been following Armia as closely as you guys have, but the hockey future article cites Armia is a RW/C, which is news to me. How good is Armia at center.

Don't think he's ever played C for Ässät, at least not in the SM-Liiga team. He might've been C in juniors, though.

Wing suits better for him imo. Allows him to float a little, not be so defensively responsible and look for the openings etc.

According this:
http://blogit.sanomalehtimedia.fi/ki...ag/joel-armia/

Sabres wants Armia in North-America already next season. IMO two years in Finland is not too much for Armia. For example Selänne was 22, when he went to Winnipeg.

I believe he goes at least to training camp in Buffalo?

Teppo Numminen might have some recommendations about future career

I don't see going to NHL/AHL a bad route cause I think hes only missing the 'drive to the net' shoot/hit/score mentality.

Ends early December (officially).

He's there something like 30-35 days give or take a few days there, over the next three months.

6 month's, but they will be there in just only some days when they don't have games and other important hockey things where they have to be.

So Armia was offered a ELC by Buffalo Sabres.

Will find out if he signs it by Friday or if he waits till next summer.

Will play for Ässät next season and that was Armia's own term since he still wants to develop here.
