Certainly a better analogue than too much heard Teemu Selänne.

How about Bobby Ryan as a style comparison? A weaker skater though. I've only seen him play like 2 times this season so I'm not really sure about it.

mmmh.. it's not like Ryan was a strong skater when he was the same age.. and i dont' remember Armia's skating mentioned as a downside before, not sure though.

I think Perry/Ryan comparisons more accurate than Selanne.

Ryan is pretty accurate, but Perry is not accurate. It falls to the Teemu category.

A year ago it was, but at the moment no. Doesn't seem that strong on the skates, but the speed is about average here in SM-liiga.

Getzlaf is not the fastest skater but has the same size and both are very skillfull.

Getzlaf isn't shooter at all, Armia on the other hand is shoot first-kinda guy for sure. Top 10 in the SM-liiga in goalscoring btw, quite impressive from a rookie.

I go with winger version of Jeff Carter.

Well that was a disappointing WJC for him. No goals and 1 assist in 6 games. He seemed snake bitten, getting his goals waived off or hitting the post. His line never really worked that I saw though Nättinen was pretty damn good early in the tournament. Certainly more was expected of Armia. This likely drops him off the consideration for top 10 in the draft for now even if it was just 6 games.

I only saw him play twice, but I liked what I saw.

Was/is obviously a work in progress. I still think whoever drafts him knows he is a very raw talent that could take several years before being able to make the jump to the NHL.

How is Blake Wheeler for a comparison? Big frame, soft hands, soft everything.

Wheeler's certainly a better skater.

Skating will be huge with this guy. Pretty awkward stride doesn't allow him to get into ideal position smoothly, or fast enough.

Doesn't seem to have too great of a shot.

Can't think of anything right now...

Armia was barely noticeable in the game last night against the Swiss.

Every finn player was invisible. They didn't feel like playin' in a meaningless match like that.

Pulkkinen played well, Ortio was solid in net and I think Vatanen had about 40 minutes ice time.

Well, Ortio had something to win (best goalie of the tournament). Pulu and Sammy are just so superior, that they play well even with half effort

A slight dissapointment in the tournament overall. To please everyone he should have just scored on every shot in that mess of a line as a 17 year old with little experience (especially in a small rink with a really fast paste).

Yeah, well hopefully he gets 20 this season and gets drafted to a good organisation with the chance to be something in it. As a future first rounder I believe he will be given that chance. Next year we can already expect stuff from him and if he fails there, then I would be worried a bit.

Edit. Well more has to be expected from 19 year old players having more routine and such on for example games in the U20-tournament. For Pulkkinen, yeah he was better in this tournament in a better line as the better player at the moment.

Meh, i'm not too worried about him. I have seen him as a project since i heard about him a year ago. He has huge potential, he was just not ready for the NA-style of play.

IMO Draft spot is not a factor in young players devolopment unless it's too high.
