Tbay will not be a reason for an upswing, but rather equipment changes for goalies and new rules. I think with 3-4 years offense will be up and we will again have some teams scoring over 300 goals for in a season.
Something else that will drive offense... the new CBA. If the owners get some form of cost certainty, and therefore don't have to worry about their own kind driving up the price of high scoring players, the league as mandated by the ownership will do what it takes to make the game more entertaining. And in regular season play, entertainment to the masses involves goals.

It's nice to see speed and skill and old-fashioned grit rather than just size and numbing intereference. It'll be a matter of revenue for the league to have more fans entertained and this is certainly the way to go.

I agree with those that say one team can't change it all. I think we've seen success with lots of other teams playing a similar style this postseason and the Southeast might be division to lead the way ironically enough with their stockpiled talent. It's never going to be the high scoring 80's again, though. Everyone is too smart defensively and goaltenders are just too damn good to let that happen, even if they stop clutching, grabbing, and trapping. Doesn't mean it will be boring hockey though! Just look at the last three games of the year.
