Thank You Calgary & Tampa Bay!

Thank you to Calgary and Tampa Bay for a very entertaining series. It was a shame that someone had to lose but both teams made this a fun series to watch.

Congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightning and their fans on the Stanley Cup win.

I'm thrilled to see Dave Andreychuk FINALLY raise that cup.....one of the good guys in this league. Way to go Dave!!!

Finally, I want to congradulate the Calgary Flames and their fans. I've got some friends based in and around Calgary, so it was nice to see them and all the other Flames faithful have something to cheer about....it's just too bad that your boys fell short, but what a terrific run they had.

Thanks again for a great series.

Great Post!

That was much more exciting than watching the boring Devils again.

By the way, the Southleast division is now the SOUTHEAST!!!!!

P.S.T.B. Kovy and Heater will see you on the ice next fall.

Thanx, that was a great series to watch. The final 10 minutes of game 7 was crazy.

One of the most entertaining and balanced series in many years, its heartening to see a fast, skilled team playing a fast, physical team rather than some recent snoozefest SCF's. Good job to all.

good thread...great post O.C....

I've been watching this game for about 40 years.
This is one of the best Finals I have ever seen.

I had no vested interest in either team winning. Just lookin' for good hockey.
I got good hockey.

As a Bruins fan, I have lived through the elation of Cup wins and the sorrow of Cup losses. I know how both fans feel.

Both teams, cities, and fans of each should be proud. They did the game well.

Excellent series by both teams. Loved it immensely, hated to see it end. Both teams had my interest right from the first game.

Congratulations to Brad Richards on the Conn Smythe- well deserved.

Way to go Andreychuk, so happy for him and Taylor.

Grahame gets to be the first player in history to get his name on the Cup with his mother- something I doubt will be repeated in our lifetimes again.

Khabibulin played an outstanding third period.

St. Louis and Lecavaliar- awesome.

Igilna was a joy to watch, Kipursoff did fantastic as well. Regher showed what heart is all about, playing hurt.

Great support by both fan bases as well. Thanks from a Boston fan.

Enjoyed the finals immensely. Of course, it helped that my team wasn't in it so I could watch sort of objectively. What I'm hoping from this series is that the other teams see how great it is to have teams actually skating and skating hard.

Thanks to both teams for a final that was actually exciting. Congrats to the Calgary Flames for a great playoff run, and Congrats to the Lightning for taking home hockey's ultimate prize, in particular Dave Andreychuk who has gone so long without a cup.

Oh my god yes! The Devils are so boring that I didn't watch them play in the Finals. The only finals I have missed dating back to 94 with Vancouver has been series involving the Devils, I hate there style, its evil, and I don't care if it wins, I would never want my team the canucks to ever play that style.

It's not like good defense is a modern phenomena, but it's nice to see a team not using some stiffling D from the drop of the puck, that's for sure.

If you have refused to watch the Devils play in the finals, then you missed possibly one of the best series of all-time in 2001 between Colorado and New Jersey. Patrick Roy against Martin Brodeur, Ray Bourque's Cup chase, Colorado's big three on defense of Bourque, Rob Blake and Adam Foote, Scott Stevens matched up against Joe Sakic, and the electrifying game seven in Denver.

I watch every Colorado playoff game on tv, including both there Stanley cup wins, although I do not even remember them playing the Devils thats how much I hate there style. I guess I have watched them then.

You said this better than I ever could, OC.

Thank you to the Lightning and the Flames for great hockey well into June.

Congratulations to the 2004 Stanley Cup Champions - Tampa Bay Lightning,
for winning the hardest trophy there is to win.

Congratulations to the 2004 Stanley Cup Finalists - Calgary Flames,
for excelling thru the playoffs, with heart, hard work and determination.
28 teams (and their fans) are envious of your accomplishments.

Amen. I've said it before, the Finals this year was so much more exciting than the crap on the ice last year. This could also mark the start of a new era of players in the league. Very exciting!

Thank you Tampa Bay and Calgary! I honestly believe that both teams deserve to win the Cup, but alas, there can only be one winner. Of course, with the maturity and passion that I saw from Calgary, it is likely they may have another shot or two in the coming years. Congratulations!

Awesome post! Although I was rooting for Calgary I was happy for TB. I said I would be happy for either team and it was nice seeing Andreychuk raise the cup. Overall, outstanding series...I really enjoyed it. I'll say it as well...NO MORE TRAP!
