Giroux gets X-Ray on Ankle

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/f..._on_ankle.html

Quote:
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Giroux’s injury was “nothing,” less than five minutes after Giroux returned from the x-ray room. Holmgren had not even received the results yet.

Giroux will be re-evaluated on Friday in St. Louis but Holmgren said he will be fine for Saturday night’s game against the Blues.

Then again, we’ve heard this before - just last week regarding Michael Leighton’s lower back injury.

It is deflecting. Very common in pro sports, like in many other occupations.

Why admit to him being hurt right out the gate, if he is in fact hurt.

Look at the Patriots - Tom Brady has been probable for the last 6 years because of his shoulder. It is meant to deflect, and nothing more.

Because if he says that giroux has a ****ed ankle and he plays, then opposition players have something up on him before he even hits the ice. Jesus, people are willing to slate homer at every oppertunity

What you are saying is something that every coach does, and should do.

Why most of us are making fun of Homer is that he'll make some absurd claim about an injury and then it ends up being something horrific.

Thank you. This isn't a hard concept to grasp, but why is it that it's always brought up every time Homer speaks to the media?

We'll get the real answers today. If anything, it could have just been a precautionary X-ray. I'm sure it happens more often then we think, just the Philly media is hell bent on reporting EVERY LITTLE ****ING THING.

They HATE the Philly media. So you throw the bone to the other side of the yard and make your exit.

Why is everyone freaking out?

He had an x-ray. Until the x-ray says something is wrong, we're ok. He was walking around afterall (albeit limping).

you would think..I think they are trying to come up with a palatable storyline to assuage everybody's fears...ultimately if he is injured Holmgren will just say..."it is what it is."

I'm no doctor but if I was a player/coach/gm and someone blocked a shot with their foot, and it hurt. I'd get an x-ray regardless because, why the hell not? You have the resources. X-ray := bad news. X-ray = due diligence.

Until they say something is wrong aside from "he blocked a shot and was limping", I'm going to assume he'll be alright.

If/When we hear something bad, then I'll worry.

So they probably had to amputate his foot, if Homer's past history of "day-to-day/nothing/he'll be fine" holds true.

I was waiting all day to hear that news. I would've been crushed if Giroux had to miss any amount of time.
