Cheechoo gets Worcester tryout

Looks like the Sharks are at least trying to give Cheech a chance at reviving his career.

Cheechoo, a 30-year-old right wing, will be signed to a pro tryout by Worcester, returning to the organization with which he began his pro career.

Good to here. Cheech is good people. He should really just take an entire year off and try to get healthy though, but he wants to play and you can't fault him for that.

Classy act by the org. I really hope Cheech can get some of his groove back, even if it only comes back at an AHL level.

News that makes me smile, indeed.

He can't under an AHL PTO...it's either Worcester or released.

Im not saying hes going to be SENT to Stockton, I am more saying hes going to end up in the echl or a similar level somewhere on the planet.

Good for Cheech, no doubt his work ethic and locker room leadership will be a plus. We'll see soon enough if he can still play.

The player I saw last season would have (granted it was just a couple of games though)...the player I'm hearing about from folks that saw him this summer and in training camp at Dallas sounds like a solid AHL/NHL type player.

Plus SJ wouldn't want someone not fully committed to playing at his maximum ability around this group of prospects...there are a ton of guys with NHL potential and hockey ops isn't going to do anything to risk any of those guys.

Makes sense and I am sure Cheech could be a calming vet influence as well

Great to see him get another chance and I'm really happy it was this org giving him basically a last chance.

I'm calling it now. He's going to become a cybernetic hockey machine. Wooster is near Boston which houses MIT.

Cheech will be back as Cheech 2.0

You can quote me on this in 2 years when I'm right.

I think you're wrong.

WPI is a lot closer and would have a better shot at it.

Some information that means absolutely nothing, so I won't bother with a "breaking news" Sharkspage post...

Cheechoo will not be at a team/season ticket holder function tonight as he will be getting into town too late, but he will be with the team and practicing tomorrow.
