Pretty happy with this. Seems like the going rate for a player of his caliber.

Not a surprise, depth behind him is nonexistent and you can't lose him and Fiddler in the same offseason. Please no more wing talk about him either.

Seemed like a lot at first, but with 2 of the years being UFA years, and how he's been getting better every year I can't complain. Having Seguin, Spezza and Eakin locked up for the next 3 years is awesome

Nice to lock up a good young center for that kind of money. I figured he was probably worth more than that. For what it's worth, it probably increased his trade value, as well.

I was thinking that too. There's at least two others in the system, Faksa and Janmark, with a similar skill set. One of those three can be included in some kind of package for a top pairing D, if one becomes available

I don't think you have the right comparables. Faksa isn't looking like a 40 point player, Shore and Dickinson are closer to Eakin's combination of offense and defense.

Maybe those two guys are equal, maybe they aren't. One in hand is better than two in the bush in this case. If Jim Nill is loading up to win in the next few years, he wants vets in their prime.

He can probably only afford maybe one rookie center, like Faksa, in the fourth line role at that time frame. If he plays well, they roll four lines, if not, ice time is limited and he plays more later.

I didn't say exactly comparable. I meant someone who can take on the 3rd line center role. Very few third line centers put up 40 points in a season, and have two #1 centers ahead of them on the depth chart. I was thinking Dickinson will eventually be Spezza's replacement on the 2nd line. Forgot about Shore. So for the future 3rd and 4th line centers we could have Faksa, Shore, Eakin and Janmark, so two of that group are potentially expendable as trade bait
