Cats fans pick...

Now that a looong summer is over...who's looking like the winner through the eyes of the Panthers fan? (Rumor has it we already have reservations on various golf courses throughout the month of April)

Boston? Vancouver? I say it's aboot time for either one...

I think Philly takes it, after they get Vokoun at the deadline.

I'm going with PIT. They have the talent on the blueline and up the middle to get it done again. I have no doubt Shero would address any deficiencies at the TDL.

Gonna go off a hunch and say Vancouver.

Darkhorse team to win it all would probably be Ottawa.

Shero and the Penguins have zero cap space right now so he'll have a hard time addressing any deficiencies at the deadline.

My pick from the East is going to be the Capitals. They kept all their core players together, now will have a full season of Carlson on their blueline, and have a potentially underrated rookie center in Johansson. They will have plenty of cap space this yr so they could make moves to improve at the deadline, most likely on defense and/or goaltending if need be.

Out West, I think the goaltending change in SJ pays off and they make it to the SCFs finally. That offense is too dangerous to not think they can do some damage in the playoffs and only place they may need an upgrade would be on defense with the retirement of Rob Blake. Nitty and Niemi should be a solid tandem to get them far and one of them should catch fire in the playoffs.

To win it all, I'm going with the Caps as I think this is Ovechkin's yr to do it.

Well, since every team is 0-0, I'll just be delusional and pick the Panthers.

I must've not accounted for Staal's $4M being on LTIR. I saw they had around $3.9M in space. You're right.

I'm going to go out on a limb and choose the Caps and Canucks, but I would say the Pens, Flyers, Devils, and Sharks (if they can actually have success in the playoffs) could all be nominees.

Niemi/Nitty/Griess will not be as good as Nabby, they'll still win the division but they won't be as good.

I'd love it...but they got rid of redden and signed eminger. Might as well just come out and hang a banner saying "F-HENRIK LUNDQVIST. LOVE, SATHER"
I don't get the pic Oscar...is he making the same face I give the really slow drivers?
...or is that a, hmmm actually possible?

Washington still riding on Semin Backstrom and Greene...great regular season players...but come April...same goes for SJ for the last decade.

So NOBODY else likes Boston's chances?...why?

..and I hate to say it, but New Jersey has a chance every year .

Boston's my pick too. Out west the Canucks should be strong if Luongo doesn't choke again.

You have a habit of liking defensemen who don't play well. Ballard last year; now you're a Redden fan.

It's a good thing you're not an NHL GM. Your franchise would be worse than the Panthers have been the last decade.

Explain to me how getting rid of Redden and signing Eminger will, in any way, place more of a burden on Lundqvist? I never viewed an upgrade in defensemen as a detriment to goaltending.
Have you ever watched a Rangers game? Have you ever seen Redden play?

it should be the panthers had they got their act together 10 years ago. I guess this means we will win the cup in 2020!

Say that again, and I'll arrange a meeting in the BAC parking lot with two pairs of everlast gloves!!!!

LOL, I think you misunderstood that. (maybe the addition of the word 'took' that I realize doesn't belong there)

Translated- we got rid of a horrible d-man...and signed a worse one- "F-Henrik.."

..and please, Erick, I never ever said he had a good last year. Stop it already.

.

DID YOU JUST REFER TO EMINGER AS AN UPGRADE...???

Now I ask-have YOU ever watched a Ra...HOCKEY GAME?

I know you have.

...but no I don't even watch hockey. It's stupid. Basketball is way more exciting.
(What am I doing here??? AHHH!)

That is going out on a limb???

I'll go out on a REAL limb and say Kings vs. Devils (must be Marty's ON year since it's one or two off during playoffs, then he goes the distance).

Out there even more now... Kings win it all.
