John Kordic would kill Rypien. That guy was a whole different level of wacko (not to mention he was on coke).

I agree. I think Kordic wins also, but couldn't think of a better pairing for him against a current player. So back to you.... who would you pit Kordic against in a dream scrap (no Jay Miller or Bob Probert)?

Boxing has absolutely nothing to do with hockey fighting. You think if Muhammad Ali could skate he'd have been a top fighter in the NHL?

I'd love to watch Rocket Richard and Gordie Howe go to at it.

"Absolutely nothing"? There's zero correlation between fighting in the ring and fighting on ice? I realize theres a difference, but to say boxing has "absolutley nothing" to do with hockey fighting is obtuse. Gordie Howe would eat a hole through Ovechkin's visor.

BTW, I firmly believe that if Muhammad Ali could skate, that he would have been a top fighter in the NHL.

"Absolutely nothing" is an exaggeration as they share punches to the head, but they are nearly unrelated and skills in boxing will not translate to skill in a hockey fight. Perhaps we'll just differ in opinion on this one, but really boxing skill would mean nothing in a hockey fight. Just my opinion however.

Here's a question, would the best of the best NHL fighters already have good boxing skills from their experience in the league?

Dave Semenko once boxed Ali in a charity match, he did alright. The style of fighting in a ring is different from on ice, however if someone told me that the best hockey player in the world (at the time) could also take the boxing heavyweight championship, well I guess I wouldn't want to tangle with him on the ice or in the ring.

1983, Ali had been retired for 3 years and had parkinson's syndrome for about 5 years by that point. Also a charity exhibition match, i don't think Ali was attempting to knock him out.

Anyway, like I said we're not going to come to an agreement on this.

Apparently it makes them decent MMAers
(mind you his competition was pretty crappy)

I can't believe I'm the first to say Gretzky vs. Lemieux.
