So apparently the scoreboard is going in sort of in patchwork style.
If you're attending the Dec 27th game against the Habs, the SCREEN will be in place, but that's it. No upper or lower banner, no frame.... just screens. The rest of it (the glitzy frame fillers, upper and lower power banners) will be installed in Jan, before the ASG. At least, that's the impression I was given talking to some people last night.
I think it will be kind of cool to see it "halfway done" during a few games. Like an open PC, before you put the case back on.
1) the picture you see above you? See how it's all open, how you can see inside the board itself? That is ACTUALLY how the scoreboard is going to look until Jan 14th. There is a break in arena events from the 9th to the 13th of January, when they will lower the scoreboard and install all the side screens and advertising. Just in case you get to the game tomorrow against the Habs and wonder why it's only half done: there wasn't enough time in 3 days to complete the full board.
2) The quality of the picture: if you are going to the game tomorrow, know that the picture you see on our new scoreboard isn't even as good as it's going to get. After the ASG, the Sens are investing in an entirely new media center/ tech room, updating every system across the board. So while the picture tomorrow is going to look good, it'll look AMAZING after February.
3) The guys who installed the new board basically LIVED at the arena for the past three days over the holidays. If you happen to see any of the techs at the game tomorrow, wish them a merry Christmas, and remember their sacrifice fondly, haha...
