Went to see the Ads play Albany tonight. And BOY did they look good. Very impressed. Loved the forecheck, very Boucher... Relentless. Too bad the Lightning usually relent. Ads didn't. Forced turnovers constantly.
Anyone had a chance to watch Namestnikov in the play-offs? Stats wise he isn't performing on a very good team which is a bit concerning. Is he playing his way back onto the London roster for next year?
Scored the game 4 and game 5 winners in the past 2 games
Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Cory Conacher named AHL MVP
"Conacher, 22, who opened many eyes at Tampa Bay's training camp this season, was second in the league with 35 goals and 75 points heading into the season's final weekend. He also was tied for second with 14 power-play goals and tied for third with seven winners.
Conacher, from Burlington, Ontario, is the fourth rookie to be named MVP since the award was established for the 1947-48 season."
Apparently there was a team with a 26 game win steak called Indiana Ice Miners.
Quote:
Over the course of the season, the Ice Miners recorded a professional hockey record 26-game winning streak.[4] The team was named champions of the league, with a 31-1-0 record, 18 games before the season was scheduled to end
The league did not even last 1 season which is probably why no one acknowledges it. Not that it matters now as the Admirals have a 27 game fluke.
Only the 2nd game to go to OT. Former Lightning Goalie Mike McKenna stood on his head to keep it close.
Conacher was benched for almost half the game for taking a bad penalty during the 2nd.
Took a roughing call during a scrum. Guess Coach Cooper did not like it.

I know the AHL regular season is messed up (3 games in 3 days, Weeks off at a time ect.) I also get the first round is only 5 games but how is it that the Monarchs could possibly get 3 home games to the Ads 2?

All other High seeds get 3?
Also what is everyones guess on who gets the start in game 1, Tic or JJ?

I'd start Tic. He's our big game goalie who plays great in these kinds of games.

There's a scheduling conflict with the Norfolk arena.
Monday, April 16 – Sunday, April 22, 2012
The Lightning’s top minor league affiliate in Norfolk is the first team to have the AHL’s top defenseman, coach, rookie, and player (MVP) in a single season in the league’s 76-year history.
It is and isn't a scheduling conflict at the Scope.
Teams that are seperated more than 300 miles apart have to have the 2-3 schedule format, while teams less than 300 miles apart (Hershey and Wilkes Barre for example) get the option of doing 2-2-1 or 2-3. In both cases, the higher seeded team gets to pick the format. For the Admirals, since they are 700 miles from Manchester, they had to go with the 2-3 format, they then had to choose either first 2 at home or last 3 at home. Thats when the scheduling is and isnt a conflict. Yes they cannot have the last 3 games at home because the Tattoo (not tattoos like Ink, but is a marching band show) so they have to do the first 2 games at home, but realisticly, why would they want the team to start on the road? It is a no brainer, IMO, that the team would want to start at home if they could. First, you are guaranteed 2 home games. If the Admirals took the 3 game option, they are only guaranteed 1 home game. Also, if they would have taken the last 3 games option, that would give the Monarchs the edge wouldnt ya think? Monarchs would have said home ice advantage and could take the first 2 easily and then the Admirals would have to fight back and try to force it to a game 5 ( I know this could still happen no matter where the game is played, but ya know what I am getting at).
So in my opinion, given the options, regardless of the scheduling issues, Norfolk did the right thing and took the first 2 guaranteed home games instead of maybe 3...
My opinion is it shouldnt have to get to game 5 no matter what or we are in trouble
