Pronounciation of Rinne?

Oilers fan here.

You guys got a great goalie in Pekka Rinne. However I was just wondering how do you say his name?

Pekka (Peck-ah) Rinne (Reen-eh)
Pekka Rinne (Reen)
Pekka (Rin)
Pekka (Renee)

We pretty much all call him "Pekka Ree nay"

I guess it's correct. I've also heard "Ree Knee" and "Ren Nay", but I'm pretty sure it's Ree Nay

All my grandparents were Finnish, my Dad speaks Finn, has lived in Finland for short periods, and he says RINN-ney (nay), or RINN-neh, accent on the first syllable, with a Finnish style rolled R. But that doesn't mean it's how Peks wants it. It's how I say it. But so many say REE-ney that maybe he says it that that way. I think I asked my Dad and he thought about it and decided it could be that way too, lol... Always meant to see how Peks says it himself.

I just am pretty sure it's not the Montreal French-ified version, Pekka Rin-NEY with a french R. That sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard, lol

This would be closest to right way.

In 2007 I asked him how to pronounce his name during an autograph signing and it sounded like he said ree-NAY or ren-NAY with emphasis on the second syllable.

It was a long time ago though and I have horrible memory so take that for what it's worth

Remember when Erat told everyone we'd been saying his name wrong for the past like 10 years? Ha!

Maybe the pronunciation everyone uses for Rinne comes from the way Paul announces him in the starting lineup...doesn't seem like there's a way to say it correctly while still drawing it out and sounding all exciting like he does.

All these dudes and their names....I'll stick with "Peks".

I'd also like to hear clarification on Hornqvist's name pronunciation. I head it two ways...Horn-quist and Hornk-vist. I've noticed Pete and Paul McCann go back and forth between those two.

I understood 3 words besides his name:

Nashville
PowerPlay (okay, it's a concept)
and wouldn't you know it, "Absolutely"

I asked some Czech kids we were housing for a weekend how to pronounce Vokoun, and they said it rhymed with Rock On.

And here it is with Pekka. I added the comma just to distinct the first and last name better. For some reason there's no gap between the names without the comma.

In Hörnqvist, the r is silent so it's more like HÖNK-vist
