Let him play his way out, sending him back to juniors etc would be a terrible choice right now, not only do we need him in the big club, we have to keep faith with him.

I agree with dropping him to the 2nd PP unit, let Sbisa / Beauch onto the 1st PP unit, and reduce Fowler - Lilja to lower minutes and let Sbisa and Beauch pick up the slack would be the way to go

I hate it when they hit the rookie wall.

its sad that hes playing so badly right now that we want to bench one of the only guys who trys

something hasta be done though, id like to try him with Sutton, at least give him a more physical presence to try and take some pressure off of the forecheck. Cant hurt, its not like Lilja is bringing much to the table outside of PK, which Sutton should handle.

I remember Carlyle talking about how impressed he was with Fowler not showing any fatigue after 40-50 games (which is something that happens to a lot of rookies), but it just seems that the fatigue that he was talking about is catching up with him now.

You cant send him to Windsor. Thats a waste of time and scratching him would only hurt him as well. You have to let him play through this. I agree with previous posts that trying Sutton with him may help.

If the Ducks were securely positioned in a playoff spot, I wouldn't mind sitting the kid in the pressbox for a game. Unfortunately, Fowler is so important to our defense right now with only 15 games left that we can't sit the kid for even one game. It is that tight in the West.

Play him less minutes on a 3rd pairing with Lilja or Sutton in somewhat easier situations. He'll still get Power Play time. If he still isn't playing well, I'd probably scratch him on one of the back to back games. Taking a look at how the game is played from a different viewpoint might improve him. I believe Toni Lydman said this when he was with Calgary. Realized there was actually more time than he realized on most plays, no need to go in panic mode so much.

That weak backhand pass that was supposed to go around the boards behind the net that got turned over for a goal was brutal against Vancouver. He had a few extra moments to make sure he got it off right or even do another play altogether.

Someone should call up Scotty and get him to work with him a bit more.

Maybe RC is going to play him less. I think he only played 16 or so minutes last game while Sbisa got 22-23 I believe.

Playing less should hopefully help him out. Give Sbisa and Beauch the minutes and let Fowler and Lilja/Sutton play less.

i think he thought the weak backhand vs the nucks was gonna be picked up by teemu, who shot up the middle instead of staying with his check.

fowler should not have mad that move, but bad communication and a bad cover by teemu who left the check before the puck was secure helped that play become a goal.

The strong play of the Beauch/Sbisa pairing is enabling the Fowler/Lilja pairing to be played in more limited minutes.

Didnt saw the game last nigt, but FYI, here`s the total TOI for our defencemans:

Visnovsky - Lydman
(20:10) - (17:07)
Sbisa - Beauchemin
(19:40)- (21:16)
Fowler - Lilja
(23:13) - (18:34)

Fowler with biggest ice time again, and 3d pair with most ice time, and 1st pair - with most least ice time.

Dunno if Carlyle is doing this right.

Maybe he is rolling three equally important lines that play different roles instead of a more traditional #1-#3 pairing.

Yep. I think this is the case.
But Lydman and Fowlers icetimes should change places.

Everyone got over 18 minutes, I like that a lot. There is variations that are gonna bet dictated by # PP/PK and given the loss was a blowout, I think it was pretty reasonable.

I'd be all for Fowler sitting in the pressbox for a game or two. Look what it did for Subban and for Seguin this season. Sometimes players need to see the game from an outside perspective, in order to gain insight on their shortcomings.

Well it's clear that Sbisa has played himself into a top 4 role and that he has chemistry with Beauch.

Fowler is still a good #5 for now even with the rookie wall going on. I would sit Lilja and try Fowler with Sutton again.

Nope. Lydman barely got 17 minutes.

Agree. + Subban and Seguin are rookies to. (not counting Subban games at the end of the last season)

But on that pair minutes thing when our first pair got most few minutes, but 3d got the most - i think its only because Randy let em rest.

How about we just convert Cam into a forward?

Teemu Selanne will get concered abot his ice time anyway, because he`ll play 25 min a game. He will talk to coach about this.

Cam Fowler is Wideman 2.0 according to NYR fans

U mad?

He'll be great in a few years; no doubt in my mind at all.

He looked much better I thought last night. Still had some ugly turnoves, but Sutton paired with him definitely helped. Sutton was quite active last game in regards to pinching and keeping the play in the offensive zone.

I thought they were much better after the 1st. In the 1st Sutton would never open up to give Cam a passing line behind the net in the defensive zone. There were numerous times that Cam had to force the puck off the boards on his side to a winger.
