Did anyone go to see him at Wendy's yesterday and ask him how he's feeling? I asked Linback and Hoarnqvist at Jersey Mikes and they said he's fine. Should be back in a few games.
I just don't see a real reason not to make a claim on Greiss.
Other than he sucks? Or at least he doesn't appear to be any better than Dekanich?
Greiss must have had a great game or two and really passed the "look test" with some of you guys. Because his numbers are average or worse. Over 140 games in the AHL with a .901 career save percentage. WOW! (Dekanich .918 AHL)He had good numbers a few years ago in Germany, and done little since. Although he did get 16ish NHL starts, and has a .906 save percentage (Better grab him!). Although maybe going 7-5-2 for a team that went 44-15-9 with the other goalies is the big reason he's good? He had one decent playoff game (26 of 28) is really the only claim Griess has on anything. Of course he does have the 0-3 Olympic record and that .815 Olympic save percentage. So he has that going for him. Along with his .877 AHL playoff save percentage in 15 games.
I sort of understand the knocks on our own guy, Deks, because fans always want the next big thing. The grass is always greener syndrome. There's been plenty of group think here, talking about all sorts of ways Deks plays badly and is a career AHL guy at best. And probably so. But at least Deks plays pretty good in the AHL, unlike Greiss. I've seen Deks but not much of Greiss, so I can't use the look test on Greiss. He must look awesome, because his numbers suck.
Overlooking all his weak stats to say he gives the Preds "the best chance to win" this season based on less than a quarter season of NHL games experience advantage (And getting waived after that...) is ludicrous. At least Deks has practiced behind this team, as has Lindback.

You've got to get over this obsession with facts. We all wanted Greiss because we know Dekanich can't be any good or he'd have beaten out Lindback. Too bad Chet had a bad game the other day or we'd want to start him.
Well, the tone of the post came off more whiney and attacking than I intended. LOL Sorry about that everyone.
I'm just thinking we're in OK shape. Not ideal. Yes, our goalies have no NHL experience. But there's got to be a first time. If the coaches felt Lindback deserved that, even as young as Lindback is, I'm good with it.
The Griess thing didn't matter, since he already cleared waivers, so there was no need for my post about it. Just read those earlier comments. Sorry again...
Calm down. Gloom and doom already? normally we have to lose a game first. Even minus the Electronic Rat, our Forwards are every bit as good as last years line-up. We won without Kostitsyn and Lundmark on Saturday. Granted, it was a worse team and we had Rinne, but its time to give Lindback a shot. Lets not rule ourselves out just yet.

exactly what i was going to say. erat didnt have a shot on goal the other night (not 1 out of what? 50?). not ripping on erat, he will find his way. we talked of all this depth, lets see it. but the only real question is goal and whether anders can get it done. we will find out.
chicago is possibly only going to have a 1,3,5,5,6,6 as their defenders if hjalmarsson gets suspended..think it will be a good game actually. preds should be amped about the game/series that got away last year and play well.
Harms is suspended 2 games. The Hawks have not looked good in their past 3 games, but they certainly aren't hurting, either. Turco, I think, has looked pretty good at times. More so than last year with Dallas. I think this will give us a better look at what we are working with this season than gauging the Ducks game. Although, it is still the beginning of the season, and only our second game while some have played 2-3.
City Paper's quote was this: '"We'll see after (Friday) but there's a good chance he'll play (Saturday)," coach Barry Trotz said. "I need for him to go "I'm 100%. I'm ready to go."'

I'm not sure whether this quote has been attributed to Pekka but was actually said by Trotz, or whether Pekka said it in answer to Trotzy's request.
Trotz gave that quote in response to the question of what it would take for Pekka to play. Cooper then told Pekka what Trotz said and asked him what he felt. Pekka said something to the effect of "yeah, I'd say it's close, it's 100%".
I'd say it's 75/25 that Rinne plays tomorrow, but who knows? Guess we'll know when Dex tweets he's on his way back to Milwaukee.
