Okay, apparently not too much thankfully. Still curious why he's working out but not skating. Groin issue maybe?

Short #Canucks practice underway @ Rogers Arena. No Dan Hamhuis on the ice but he's in the rink working out.
If it is his groin, we seriously need to get rid of Takahashi. I've never jumped on the blame the trainer wagon but if Hamhuis has been so durable yet has problems [almost] immediately after joining us then it's a problem. I remember Ben Kuzma mentioning how during the entire time Peter Twist was our strength and conditioning coach that we had 1 groin problem. We easily get more than one every season now.
Of course, I could be getting ahead of myself. Might not be his groin. Just not sure what allows one to workout but not skate.

High ankle sprains are never good. Wouldn't expect him back anytime soon.
Do you think we should get Buble to take his place over Perreault?
On a serious note: Hope Hamhuis is alright... We need to get the entire team doing flexibility yoga in lieu of some practices this season. Works for Alfredsson (The man who hasn't played a full season since his first >_>).
So let me get this straight. Dan Hamhuis, who is one of the most durable defencemen in the league since the lockout, comes to the Canucks and after only a couple games suffers a groin tweak, albeit a minor tweak.
Wow. Just wow. Gillis, time to use your extreme makeover skills on the training staff.

Hamhuis has probably suffered this type of injury tons of times. He just plays through it as it is 'minor'
Some of the most durable players are just better at playing through minor injuries than other players... that's all. Ballard is an ironman and yet he played most of last season with a bad hip. Prior to that he played most of a season with some other injury (although minor).
If he had a tweaked groin before, you probably wouldn't hear much from Nashville about it — same way nobody heard that Ballard had an offseason hip surgery. Small market teams...

Yep. From Ben Kuzma:
Quote:
Hamhuis on status: "I've had a lot of groin problems in the past, but nothing that will keep me out (tonight). Just a little maintenance."
Also from twitter, this time on Salo:

@BotchonCanucks hey Botch how long till you think Bieksa is traded?
botchoncanucks:
@chrisjwalker more interesting with suggestions salo is way ahead of schedule
naslundfan:
@botchoncanucks Are we looking towards late Nov. early Dec. if Salo is way ahead of schedule ?
BotchonCanucks:
@naslundfan cap will come into play. it's going to get a little complicated with his return
How many teams out there have a use for Bieksa and have cap space? Anaheim, NYI? I think if Gillis starts putting feelers out there, GM's will know that Salo is getting close and that MG will have to move Bieksa. Therefore they may just wait for him to be waived. Either way, Bieksa at this point is addition by subtraction. The big question is how effective Salo will be when he returns.

I don't think Salo will be too slowed down by this injury. I mean, even with all his injuries, he is still effective. Why would this one by the one to ruin him? However, my concern is how long he will last without getting injured again?
I dunno - Sami is getting old and injured all the time. I could see Gillis keeping Bieksa and letting Salo go.
I can't believe Bieksa is still here, I do not see anything positive out of him staying here, even if he was making a million a year which he never would. He makes low percentage plays and doesn't learn from them and he is nearly 30 years old. At least when you see our younger prospects at the D position make mistakes they learn from them and don't come back out and try the same exact things over and over and hope they work this time. I would rather lose a little offense from the back end then keep giving up 2 on 1's and 3 on 1's and finding ourselves down a man from a bad penalty then shoot ourselves in the foot every year with this frigging guy. Not that any of this in new.
