Schenn is a beast.

Clifford with some stand up play, backchecking, perfect 4th liner for now.

Poni. WTF?

Mitchell. As excepted, didn't really see too much of him, that's a good thing. A few give aways but then again quite a few Kings players had a few give aways.

Jesus, people really get down on Poni just for taking a few penalties. None of which were clear cut ones, each 1 was sketchy, he played a good game out there

I don't see why not, I use to get down on Ivanans for the same thing. And sadly I'm gonna say the same thing, hustle/aggression penalties aren't always a bad thing, but 2 of Poni's penalties were completely unnecessary lazy penalties.

I got the feeling Poni is going to be the new whipping boy here. I saw a lot of Pitt games last year and he played a similar role and played awful. With Toronto he was used as a top 6 and PP guy where he was more useful.

Poni/Stoll/Williams

Richardson/Handzus/Simmonds

The first penalty was the subtle pick which is kinda meh but not to worried about that 1. The 2nd was the slash, which is only called because the Canuck dropped his stick, it was just a tap of his stick but the refs called it because he dropped it, and the 3rd was just playing hard hockey, checking hte guy standing over the puck, its not as if he went into that hit aiming to put Manny into the boards, his head was down looking for the puck and he was just trying to clear Manny out of the way

I was at the game and it was awesome.

Poni is doing what cost him his job on the Pens as well as made him expendable in TO and that is constantly take stupid penalties. Go to either teams boards and they will tell you the same. Tons of size and skill but the guy is simply unable to stay out of the penalty box. He can be effective when he's on the ice but he seems to take penalties at the worst possible time.

Clifford looked great and the shift that he was cheap shotted by a guy who had better get his tail beaten this season at some point by us (Edler) he was a total pest and a very effective defencive forward. He drew the penalty through his hard work and Edler deserved the 5 minute major.

Scenn kept picking up his game and was stronger towards the end. If he can keep this up we will have a couple of forwards that will be redundant and expendable.

Muzzin was good enough for a rookie. He belongs in the NHL without a doubt. The player who struggled all night was Davis, I hope he can pick it up.

Willie looked so solid and truly brought his poise to our entire bench, steady player. He got cheered almost everytine he took the ice early on. He also said something to the entire sucks bench after the richie hit that made several of them duck their heads down or look the other way.

Brown had an opportunity to LEVEL a suck and instead of doing so he just sort of escorted the guy into the boards. I think that DB must be injured because he played a pretty soft game last night. He was effective but there wasn't any aggression in him.

It was just one game. I don't think Poni played that poorly, but he definitely deserves a poor rating for that one game. He took the penalty that put us behind, tired out our PKer's with three penalties total, and everytime he was involved in a play he tried to force it and was usually the direct cause for it disbanding. That ridiculously hard pass cross-ice comes to mind, but overall, I like his game and I think he will ultimately be a good addition. He just needs to reign it in a little bit and the team needs to build more chemistry. It was very obvious that the team is still feeling each other out.

The problem with Poni is that this is who he is. He takes too many stupid penalties. It is the anchor around his neck. It is why a player with his skill set and size has bounced around at this stage in his career. He simply has to get a handle on it or he will be sent down, waived or whatever else we can do in order to get him off of our team too.

When he plays he is effective, up to the point that he takes another dumb penalty. Go ask the Loaf fans and or the Pens fans and they will tell you the same thing. I like Poni, when he isn't hurting his team by taking stupid penalties on an all too regular basis.

Muzzin was "Ok" I'll give him a 6.5/10, he didn't anything necessarily bad but didn't stand out either. You could tell that he was nervous, made some dumb plays here and there. I could see him picking up his game these couple of games; getting out the jitters etc. If he doesn't improve, I could definitely see Hickey getting the plane ticket to L.A or just going back to Manchester once Greene is healthy.

Schenn looked great! (but, but he's just a 19 year old rookie!), he looked like a vet.

Doughty looked alright, didn't look up to form but that's ok, he'll get better tonight.

Poni eghhh.. not so great.

Regarding Clifford, I particularly liked the way he hustled on the back check and eastablished good defensive position. His "protectve instincts" are as good as advertised.

Like to see Poni play with Handzus and Richardson on the fourth line with Westgarth being in-out of lineup. That would free Schenn to play 3rd line with Clifford and Simmonds. And Smyth should play with Stoll and Brown. Williams belongs with Kopitar and Loktionov I think. Lokti needs an opportunity on the top line. Moller would be a great third-4th line guy soon too. If Poni gets game together he could play and add size to first line with Kopitar...that's a big if...

I'm down on Poni (for the game against Vancouver solely, not overall) because he played like he was a foot shorter than he really is.

As for the rest, Schenn was brilliant and everyone else was rather mehh to me.

Sorry...I can't give out a bunch of ratings yet;I need a few more games.

I just thought Schenn was breathtaking in that 2nd half;Incredible
at both ends.

Maybe he was just lucky last night?
Nah. Don't think so.
Looked like real deal to me.

Schenn's combo of great instincts (which will give him a precious extra fraction-of-a-second jump
on most other players in many plays), and excellent acceleration (he gets to, or near, top speed in just a few quick strides),
made him seem like one of the fastest skaters out there last night, even though he is not, actually.
But at only 19, his fast-improving skating could get pretty damn good in 2-3 more years, as often happens with stars.

And yes, I am now thinking of Schenn as a coming star.

IMO, he will not "just" be a good player; He will be a star.
You can't teach instincts, and heart and effort, like Schenn has.

For a FW, he may actually think the game almost as well as Doughty.

Schenn will be our 2nd highest scoring FW within 2 seasons.

BAM!
I said it.

Aww, come on. He's got to be higher, just based on getting away with that hit on Bourque. He knew what he was doing there, making it "seem" like they just got tangled up, but he hustled to get into that position.

Yeah, the penalties sucked, but hopefully he'll be able to correct that with time.

I also liked what (they said) Clifford had to say about needing to play the number two role and have Westgarth's back. Nice.
