7 Pro and HD7 are the ones that peek my interest the most.
7 Surround seems a bit gimmicky.
7 Mozart seems interesting with the UBA chassis.
7 Trophy seems like a cheaper version of the Mozart.

LG Quantum looks meh, although Optimus 7 looks decent.
The Samsungs look okay, the Lightning looks pretty slick.

Since the Captivate hasn't launched yet(Rogers) and WP7 is coming very soon, I might reconsider...

The phones look nice but the WP7 interface looks so stupid. Is it possible to run android on these phones?

It might, a lot of people are running Android on their HD2.

Honestly, solid effort from MS here. I really like the fresh take on the UI.

Updated the OP with all the handsets + hardware specs + announced carriers.

Man, I just watched some videos on gaming on Windows Phone 7, holy crap it looks good. I'd say as a gamer, it's as good if not better than on iPhone and blows Android out of the water. With the influence the MS has in gaming they are making a good move focusing on gaming.

Just remains to see how good the battery life will be on these games.

Considering it's going to T-Mo and might be an exclusive I'm not sure...

The UI for this OS just seems so un-intuitive to me, but I guess I won't truly know until i actually use it, it just seems too out there.

The surround is a great idea. While that may be a bit much, the speakers on phones are pathetic, and they NEED to be better IMO. Hate trying to show someone a youtube in a semi crowded place.

As for the OS....meh. Even MS is saying that they just want to durvive this round. Thats not encouraging. I agree with Google, who needs this OS?

IMO add too much unnecessary bulk to the phone. How about hardware manufacturers make a front facing speaker? Idea of the decade right there.

MS has to publically set their expectations low because they are entering the market with this "refresh" so late.

However, it is very evident that MS has put some immense weight behind this project and they are hoping that it will be very successful.

Competition is always good for the consumer, esp. when it is a noteworthy and refreshingly different platform.

I guess Andy Rubin should use the same logic for Chrome OS right ? Who needs another desktop OS ?

I've been fortunate to play with an early release of the software and a more recent build (on something similar to the developer/press preview phones). It is a very intuitive OS but I do think it can be initially jarring for someone who is used to ...say Android/iOS.

They have used a similar user experience on the Zune and Windows Media Center and it works VERY well there.

As for the OS, I think it brings some of the best of both Android and iOS with a very different look and feel.

And it looks like MS is going to be releasing an update in early 2011 that will potentially address some of the issues people have with the platform (c+p, more developer apis, side loading of apps [this is technically possible now, just not user friendly] and true multitasking).

As for the actual devices, a lot of the slate devices seem to be very similar in specs but they are nearly identical to the iPhone 4/ Galaxy S standard set of specs (resolution is a bit less than iPhone4, and storage is a bit less on some of the devices).

I'm interested in the Venue Pro as I absolutely love that form factor.

It will be interesting to see what the minimum requirements for Chassis 2 in 2011 will be.

Any information on GPU specs for these phones? If I were to get one, xbox box live would be a big reason, thus, I would need a phone that is at least as good as a galaxy S is for gaming.

Most if not all have a Snapdragon, meaning they will probably be running some form of the Adreno GPU.

The Omnia 7 and the Dell Venue have the 1GHz QSD8250 First gen Snapdragon (like in the Nexus One, HTC Desire, DROID Incredible (QSD8650 for CDMA), HTC EVO 4G (QSD8650 for CDMA)) so they have the Adreno 200 GPU which honestly is quite lackluster.

I'm not sure if this info from Engadget is right though, it's odd the Samsung would go with a Qualcomm chipset for their one of their WP7 phones and not the very powerful Hummingbird CPU + PowerVR SGX540 GPU found in the Galaxy S line

The rest are running the much more powerful Adreno 205 which performs about as well as the PowerVR SGX540 in the Samsung Galaxy S line. http://androidandme.com/2010/10/news...owervr-sgx540/

I like the ad, but what's the point exactly? How is WP7 different from any other smartphone in that regard?
