Lundqvist still hurt?

I mean they say he's fine, but preseason/season he's looked like **** flopping around anytime he goes down and takes 5 minutes to get back up. Hopefully he's just had a long summer of partying, but who knows.

Maybe.

Definitely isn't playing good. Yes, I know the defense has sucked too. But this whole preseason has been tipsy turny Ranger hockey.

More goals scored, more goals allowed. Not a good thing.

Defense has been horrendous this pre-season and season thus far, and offense has been superb.

U know I am actually a little skeptical of him being 100% he hasn't looked like he did last year maybe he's just getting back into the swing of things but that first comeau goal he saves 99 times out of 100 last year

Defense hasn't been exactly awesome in the last 15 years. I'm mostly just worried of the way he's flailing around and slow to get up. That really isn't how he plays, might be nothing just looks off compared to the rest of his early season play over the years.

I thought it was just me.

I know the D coverage has been sub par, but to address the other issue, it does look like he has lost some quickness to go post to post as well as recover to block the second & third opportunities.

Hopefully its just summer rust.

Speculation of course, but not exactly baseless considering a lot of us here have seen every one of his NHL games and some may feel his movement is outside the norm.

Wow, you should be a goaltender scout with this type of information and insight. Someone get this guy Benoit Allaire's number!

C'mon, no goalie is going to look good from time to time with such ****** defense. Lundqvist will steal plenty of games this season but the fact remains this was not one the Rangers, collectively, deserved to win.

I wouldn't blame his play on possible injury. Lundqvist has been poor in the first two games. Simple as that.

He def looked slow today. slow to get up, slow side-to-side

defense is still struggling against agressive forecheck, but Hank usually saves their ass.

not today

I dont think you can say poor. Maybe poor for Lundqvist, but not poor overall.

The first goal was directly Del Zotto's fault. Henrik made a huge save on the first try but there was no help on the rebound.

The second goal was Del Zotto's fault also. He set it up on a tee. Can't blame Hank on that.

The third goal was probably the only soft-ish goal. The shot missed the net and he didn't get the puck away from the net. In fairness the defense totally missed picking the man in front.

The fourth goal was not his fault. At all. 5 on 3, Henrik challenged the Wisniewski shot, it was deflect by Girardi right on the tape of Parenteau's stick for a tap in.

The 5th and final goal was just a perfect play. Bailey while falling put a no look spin pass on the tape of Comeau right in the slot. Not much you can do about that.

If you look at each goal individually and look at some of the saves he made, its unfair to say that he played poorly.

A lundqvist injury may be speculation, but one thing that is not speculation is the fact that this defense is somewhere between actual NHL calibre and being AHL calibre.

No way he would be playing if he was dealing with anything that would significantly hamper him or cause further injury.

Nope looks more like lack of concentration and focus. The guy is battling the puck big time.

Hey, it happens. He surely doesn't seem like the Hank we know. He'll tighten up.

A lot of very sensitive people around here, this has nothing to do with a loss...Rangers have a knack for not winning for 80+ years of their 85 year existence today isn't some shock lol.

I'm just saying his movement looks different than normal be it rust or pain who knows. Go look up some articles I recall one as recent as his preseason starts where he says stuff along the lines of "yea I still feel it in the knees, but I just have to stretch better and it's not going to affect my play".

RE- FREAKING- LAX!!!!!!

He had a .917 save percentage in Buffalo, very respectable

he's given up 8 goals in 2 games, 3 of which were powerplay goals

of the 5 remaining, put one squarely on del zotto

that leaves 4 goals people can complain about over 2 games with 1 or 2 being softies

its been 2 games...breathe

were making it sound like hes laying in the crease

Give me a break... This team has some very good defenseman...
Staal, Girardi, Rozy are all very good solid NHL defenseman...
Yes.. MDZ has some learning pains here and there but in the long
run MDZ is going to be real good. The bottom pairing defenseman
in Sauer and Emminger are fine..

I agree, he doesn't look like he usually does, but I wouldn't be worried. It's the beginning of the season, I'm sure he'll find his rhythm like he always does.

If he continues to play like this after 10 games or so, then I'll begin to worry.

Rozsival is not really a good d-man anymore. Staal is on most nights. Girardi is a fine hockey player, average. MDZ is really bad defensively.

Eminger is an albatross defensively. And Sauer is a rookie just getting used to the NHL game.

1. Henrik has said he's not a good starter and he's not having a particular great one. It's ok.

2. For as much as we're not crazy about him, myself included, Drury will help the PK. He's an excellent PKer.

3. Rangers stink in matinee games; always have, always will.

4. This was a trap game.

5. Islanders always play the Rangers hard and vice versa; I've been a fan for 21 years and some of the strangest games both good and bad have gone on at the Coliseum (50/50), Igloo (mostly bad), and Montreal Forum/Bell Centre (mostly bad).

1st goal...bad bad bad turnover by Del Zotto...Lundqvist made the first save...not much he could do on the rebound.

2nd goal...another botched play by Del Zotto but Lundqvist should have made the first save...he was in good position...not sure how Bailey got it through him. Bad goal for Lundqvist to give up.

3rd goal...everyone got a little complacent and lazy but Lundqvist was caught off guard when the puck bounced off the back boards. Bad goal for Lundqvist to give up.

4th goal...bad bounce off the shot block by the Ranger defender...Lundqvist looked awkward on this goal but there wasn't much he could do...not his fault.

5th goal...nothing Lundqvist could have done about this one.

6th goal...EN

I would say two of those goals were partially Lundqvists fault. He didn't have his "A" game today which probably cost us the game. Its way too early to be speculating about injuries and a drop in the level of his play though. Just one game. Strange game time.
