We have two 37 yr old wingers playing 90 games/season. Alfie has been a non-factor so far this season, so I'm not convinced it will slow us down.

It's an opportunity to put Regin with Spezza, anyway. Maybe bring Butler up.

Yes of course, Alfie is a non-factor, no biggie. Let's being in the kids! Duhh.

This is why I haven't been sold on our future at forward. We've been extremely lucky to have Alfie play at such a high level for this long, it was only a matter of time before he slowed down/became more injury prone. Spezza is a great talent but there's no telling how his back is going to hold up in the future. Fisher has slowed down and is way out of his depth when he has to fill in for Spezza as our #1. Michalek's knees are an open question, he's lost a step from his early years in San Jose and from what we've seen his hockey sense is extremely deficient. Kovalev is a non to negative factor but he'll be gone after this season. Regin is intriguing but he's only really played at a high offensive level for a 20 game stretch in his NHL career. Foligno has ambitions of being a top six player but there's no evidence as of yet he can play that role consistently.

Maybe one of Butler, Petersson, Hoffman turn into top sixers, time will tell.

In short we lack gamebreakers, guys who can playmake out of nothing, push the pace, create their own shot and dictate the game offensively.

Jesus christ, remember when we were the youngest and healthiest teams in the league.

Half our roster is guys with major injury history.

Alfie
Fisher
Spezza
Kovalev
Michalek
Gonchar
Kuba

MSP has about as many points as Cowen in the NHL this season. the difference is MSP is playing in the NHL and Cowen isn't.

Woah woah, calm down there. It's minor and he should be good to go for Thursday.

I'm saying he hasn't had his best stuff. I'm assuming he is playing with an injury, and I'd rather see him sit out until he's healthy.

He really has looked a little off.

Typical leaf fan fashion. Kidding or not, incredible how cocky they become starting the year off with two wins. Get lost.

As we know, I have little to no patience for leaf fans.....EVER. Living in Toronto for half my life and not a fan of make me laugh nation does that to people.

Hope Alfie's ok.......he better be.

What has MSP really done that makes him so special ? hes been playing with man in Sweden for the past 3 years he should be really dominant or very good at this level now.

This is good for the team...

They need to learn how to play without Alfie. And honestly its not like they will miss his contributions this year.

I am going to guess that Smith is a placeholder and Alfie will play, and Winchester draws back into the lineup.
