Yeah. That, imo, was the shift of the game right there.

I made a mental note of that one man forecheck as well. Even though the Sabres are as soft as a billowy cloud, Hossa is a boss.

His regular season was great, but he just lost it in the playoffs. Scoring in 3 games is not something you should be getting out of a guy like that.

Hawksfan74: He wanted a one time chance at a cup. He almost got it in Detroit. How you don't know this is beyond me.
yea, its not like he was playing with a separated shoulder that caused him to miss 30 games of the next season or anything...

That's where you can go wrong with Hossa. IMO, the best thing is to keep a shotgun-rider type player like Kopecky on his line. Hossa is the guy you give him a decent playmaking center (Toews) and another body (Kopecky) to open up the ice and let Hossa do his thing. You waste talent by sticking too much of it on a line with Hossa.

Best player on our team by a mile. Early on MVP candidate. Just awesome.

I remember last season when people were pissed we signed him instead of retaining Havlat.....how's that working out....

How the **** would you know, jumping on the bandwagon after Havlat played his last game for the Hawks?

I was one of those upset about it. You've got to remember the circumstances: We just came off our most succesful season in more than a decade and they isn't resign the beat player on our most consistent line throughtout the season and the playoffs. It was less about the addition of Hossa and more about the lost of Marty.

Once Hossa was aboard I didn't mind losing Havlat. Not that I didn't like him, he was huge for them that previous season, but even back then I'd have taken Hossa any day of the week over Havlat if it came down to one or the other. I was glad they made the move then and am even more glad now.

Marcel was the scoring leader in KHL last season, but KHL is 5 levels lower than NHL.

I like Kopecky-Toews-Hossa (Marian) line.

Yeah, I wasn't really that impressed with Marcel during the Olympics.

I believe hes' referring to the fact that you're here as of Sept.2010 even though you could be a Hawk fan for 20 years and maybe just joined this board. It's hard for some of the older guard to accept all these new guys coming in and I can understand why cuz 3 years ago there was like maybe 10 of us on this board and I'm not kidding.

I'm glad you're here....our GDT's were pathetic. Most other teams forums were 10:1 compared to ours.

I was pretty bitter over Havlat not re-signing with the team but I got over it pretty fast when there was word that Hossa was signed instead.

It's nice too see him playing 100% healthy again. If he can pot 40 goals with Detroit while sporting a RC injury I'm looking forward to what he can produce when he's back to his old self.

I started watching hockey and paying attention to the Hawks when I was in little league and a kid (who played hockey) came to practice with a shirt depicting the cartoon images of Savard and Chelios after they had been traded for one another. I became curious and asked who they were and the rest as they say is history. Went out a got roller blades the next day. I believe I was 9 or 10 at the time and I'm 32. So yeah about 22 years.

As for my join date, don't let it fool you. I've been around longer.
