I always love Washington/Tampa games. I'll be there tonight, one of few that I actually can make this year.

Is this the game where 8 and 19 finally break out?

So, no circus, just a f’king game? Boring….
But seriously, win and we are first in the division again.
Also, I see Varlamov is the NHL's First Star of the Week. I hope he is starting tonight.

According to Corey Masisak:

Varlamov is starting

Poti is playing

King, Sloan, Erskine, and Bradley all appear to be scratches.

I assume that Neuvirth is backing up, not actually scratched, right?

Next four all with Division foes, Home and Away with the Bolts as well as the Panthers. A good showing in these games and the Caps could create some space between them the Bolts and others within the Division.

It seems higher up Washington brass have a lot of respect for Rolo. In taking heat when believing Tampa may become a contender, I countered all they need were a few (deadline) moves, and they just got one in goal. They got it sooner, good for them. I expect a close game. The dreaded letdown potential game tonight.

Hopefully our grinders will lead the way and Ovi gets an ENG.

The last time we played the Lightning was the last time our offense was really clicking. Considering the first two games results, Rolo will have to make a big difference.

I think our offense was clicking because they were trying and run and gun with us. They are like the baby us. We want teams to try and run and gun with us. But I think we are learning teams aren't so dumb anymore. But I think Tampa still is. I expect them to adjust, in oh say 3 years or so.

I like having Erskine in there when the Caps play the bolts, pens, etc.

D is a little soft without him.

I just want a win. I'm sick of seeing the Lightning with the SE division lead considering we beat them twice this year already. This game and the Ranger games have been circled as key games for me this month other than the winter classic. I can't wait for the NYR game.

Cheers!

Not necessarily. They were shut out in two of the four games leading up to the 6-0 pasting of Tampa on 11/26. Not only were their goalies subpar in both previous games, but their defense was lacking as well. The Caps had a lot of room to move.

True but Ellis and Smith are not Roloson.

Meh, Roloson is an average NHL starter. And he's 41. Don't think he's the missing piece. I'd be much more worried if they added Vokoun.

Let's hope there's not an emotional letdown after the WC game.

Semin gives the Lightning nightmares, I think he gets another multi goal game tonight.
