I wonder how things would have played out if both our goalies weren't hitting RFA contracts at the same time.

He has played with more urgency and made a lot of game saving stops, but he's also let in a weak goal in every game, at least if you consider the winner last night weak. I do. He was very slow on that goal. Time will tell. Halak has been perfect so far.

Nice to know you're still as annoying as ever

Price faced more shots last night than Halak in two games combined. They play for two different teams.

Educate yourself.

Yes i'm happy for Halak that he saved 13 out of 14 shots in the last GAME. Price face more shots in 1 period yesterday than Halak in the whole game against Anaheim.

Halak still has better stats. Halak also proved that he can save a high number of shots and maintain a high sv%, what is your point. Your acting like Halak can't keep up to Price.

For all the people who say 'why can't anybody give Price any credit', there are very few of those people but there are far more people who won't give Halak the credit he deserves.

imo he's a better goalie right now than Price. That being said, I'm happy with the return we got for Halak and I'm happy that Price is our goalie. I can see facts for what they are, I don't need to try and bash Halak either. He did good for us, got us farther than we have been in 17 years, he gave me new hope.

I wish him well elsewhere but I'm a Habs fan and I want Price to succeed but it bothers me when people don't give him credit for what he did to this team and our fanbase.

remember when it use to be an excuse that the more you shot on halak the better he was. that he have a terrible game if you didn't shoot a lot on net. well now, not only is he incredible in 40 plus shot games, but he has mastered the art of stopping all shots when getting limited action.

Well, I'm glad this debate is finally settled. Halak plays for the best team in hockey, so his stats will naturally be amazing. And Carey Price played excellent last game. Not much else to say on the matter.

He made them the best team in hockey since the trade

I might have to change the phrase under my username. They don't want that, just ask gainey. You think he quit because the team sucked and he didn't want to get fired? No, he quit from sheer terror.

Lots of bad timing (bad luck) with the Habs in the recent years....

Add to the goalies situation, the coaching situation with Martin signed for four years while Boucher had a quick stay in the AHL before being grabbed by another organization after Martin's first year in Montreal.

We would sit on my custom polyneisian love seat eating figs and olives. The game would be playing on my Philco Predicta while I smoked a single cigarette. I would turn off the volume and shout my own play by play commentary in your right ear along with several rants about why flouride may be rat poison and how the east has influenced our consumption of various yogurts.

It's nice that you feel the need to be all condescending'n'****, but the point was that Halak plays for a different team so it's stupid to pretend that with Halak = 3 wins. People point out the shots total because there's a difference playing for a team who allows 48 shots on goal and a team who allows 14. Plus, I think St-Louis has an average of 39 SOG a game, which indicates that they carry the play while Montreal mostly gets dominated.

Who's pretending that? None of those goals yesterday were stoppable by any goalie. The point is we know Halak can stop 40+ shots easily, so joking about how he's succeeding because of his low shot total seems a bit silly to me. The other thing is that making any pronouncements about Price or Halak is premature. The only way fans will get over the trade is if Price does as well as Halak in the playoffs. The regular season won't matter much compared to that. We have a long season to go, and possibly seasons, before this is settled, so we best make nice with each other and enjoy the ride.
