Pelley and Zubrus are both better on the wing, and Mair should not be on the third line. I think Josefson deserves to be on the team too. Might as well give him his cup of coffee.

it doesn't matter who they call up as long as they can clear Sal. by clearing Sal, and possibly trading/waiving him, they go $2.9M under the cap, and only need to clear $2.2M or so to activate Rolston.

thus, this gives them until Thanksgiving to make a decision on how to best to do that.

if they don't mismanage this (who am I kidding), this is a pretty good out

In order to waive Sal, we first would have to create enough room under the cap to activate him from LTIR. The Rolston injury + sending down a couple of our rookies until Sal clears waivers, should get us there, but i am just too lazy and tired to crunch the numbers now.

6 weeks = $1.143M
You are correct, as I said, I was doing it "back-of-the-envelope" and not counting exact days. Doing it by games gets you pretty darn close to the above though so I didnt care. Also, IMO, this will be longer than 6 weeks, I'm saying this will be a good $1.5M anyway.

My guess:

YaYo
Corrente
Zharkov

at a minimum. Possibly Palmieri too.

And oh yeah...... buh-bye Urbom. Good luck in the AHL where you belong and come back good and seasoned. Expecting good things from you someday young man.

we have $5M pro-rated in LTIR money from Rolston. so, what you do is call up no more than $2.1M worth of replacements. that leaves $2.9M pro-rated in Rolston's LTIR money. which is what Sal gets paid, so you activate him and use him against Rolston's LTIR money.

then you likely get rid of Sal and go under the cap. Which leaves you $2.9M or thereabouts of LTIR money left, which means you need to clear $2.1-$2.2M of cap salary to activate Rolston. and he will have to be activated.

We need to get every line going. But I do like the look of that third line. Josefson deserves to be here, and this is the opportunity to bring him up and see what he can do.

I really hope that isn't the case. To have someone undergo surgery to personally injure them, is a horrible thing to do...

If you think this one isn't a legitimate injury, put the tinfoil hat away. You can't fake a hernia. And an independent doctor has confirmed that Rolston has one. Maybe it's a suspicious coincidence that Rolston and Salvador are the ones who were rumoured to move, and they are the ones who are on LTIR now, but sometimes the truth can be pretty strange. I guess Lou got lucky, and Rollie and Sal got unlucky.

Definitely.

I had a hernia 3 years ago and it's not fun. It has to be dealt with even though it doesn't hurt because of the whole infection potential. The first ~5 days after my surgery were complete horror. I needed help (a lot) to do something as simple as walking to the bathroom 15 feet away. Vicodin was my friend that first two weeks. haha
