It saddens me that a thread about our minimum wage player has reached two pages.

It's under the 1:27PM coachspeak section. It's exactly what was quoted above.
1:28 PM:
Coach Bylsma also said that goaltender Brent Johnson will get the start in net for Pittsburgh Friday night against the Islanders.

Yeah, I think with the back to back games, Johnson was going to be in one or the other. The real test would be if Johnson plays very well in a win, does DB go back to him the next day??

Would certainly be interesting, I'd hope DB would give him the shot, but I could be wrong there. Flower has a way of surprising us against the Flyers.

If Johnsson plays well, keep him playing until he plays a bad game. Always play the hot goalie and leave the ego things aside. MAF gets some pressure and it may be good for him.

Not that I'm really feeling much up for defending Fleury, right the moment but if/when Johnson gets blown the **** out... who does our illustrious coach toss under the bus, then?

Anyone who really believes that it's primarily on Fleury's head that the team has started out so slowly is in for a rude awakening.

Supposedly (from Rossi) Brent Johnson, before the season started, was scheduled to make 4 starts in October. So we will see if his starts meet or deviate from that number.

Start Fleury next game. He played poorly but the score and stats make it seem MUCH worse than it really was. If he plays poorly, play Johnson Next game. Let Johnson ride as long as he is playing well. If he has a bad game....back to Fleury.

I disagree that this pressure MAF will surely feel is going to HELP him. I think it will do the exact opposite. He seems as fragile as a fat middle schooler's self confidence is. He completely crashes as soon as he lets the first goal in. Now, i think he's so worried about letting in an early goal that he is so tense...and is playing worse. This man doesn't need pressure, he needs a massage and for somebody to coddle him.

That said....i'm not ready to throw in the towel on MAF yet. The whole team is doing poorly. can't throw all the blame on him. Once the team starts playing well i expect MAF to return to form.

So because a talented winger who signed here on the cheap to play with our stars doesnt behave like a grinder which we have too many of we bench him? Fantastic Dan!

He's an awful, awful coach.

The brown spot that is the offence needs a little h2-oh yeah!

Seriously he must have dogged it pretty bad in practice for Bylsma to dress Dupuis, Rupp, Adams, AND Godard in front of him...

Yeah... I guess Martin said that they had a really, really bad morning skate earlier that day and it obviously translated over to the game, itself. You have to wonder exactly what that means.

Oh, come on now. Comrie has been and probably still is a lot of things. Lazy, slow, injury prone... but he's always been talented. I think even his harshest critics will concede that.

People can say Comrie's not talented all they want, but they're wrong. Fact is, he's the most talented player on this team not named Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin.

That is odd. It doesn't seem like a great message to send to other potential free agents who might consider coming here for less than market value. With that said, who knows what went down. Maybe he told Bylsma to go F himself or something. He'd have no choice but to bench him if he did something blatently subordinate or else he'd risk losing the respect of his players. If it was a judgement call about his effort etc I'm with the rest of the board that maybe there should be a bunch of players sitting by now, not just Comrie.

I highly doubt Johnson can put pressure on Fleury seeing though he really isn't a legitimate threat (older, awkward playing style, etc...) to Fleury's job. Conklin was a threat to Fleury since he was actually skilled and was a borderline starter. Maybe the Penguins can draft and hype up a goaltender to pressure Fleury into playing so he doesn't get replaced.

Either way, Fleury really needs to step up his game and his puck handling skills seem far better than last year. Hopefully he is just having a rough start and he worked hard improving his weaknesses in the off season. He is not going to get moved any time soon but he really needs to get back into his game because when he is on, he is a really good goaltender.

Or a message to the fans that dan bylsma is an idiot and a bad coach.

On why Mike Comrie was scratched:
Mike is a guy who adds offensive ability and can play in different spots. And he did do that to some degree, he could have three points right now if we hit an open net or it doesn’t clang off the post to a guy he passed to. Just puck battles on both ends of the rink and being hard on the puck and being able to make those plays, everyone looks differently. Mike Comrie is not going to be Matt Cooke, but he has to be able to do that and be those things for the power play and for his line and do all those things on the rink both offensively and defensively. He got scratched in last night’s game, but he will get another opportunity.
Thank the lord DINGUS byslma had fuggin' mike rupp out there on the PP,AGAIN!

ughh... every passing game I am really thinking he is NOT the guy we thought he was and really rode a wave, and now its breaking annd all is crashing around him.
