Shafts and Blades no more?!?

Maybe I missed a post about this on here. Or no one cares, which is why this is possibly happening.

Are manufactures phasing out making shafts and blades? On sites like Hockey Monkey and Total Hockey, there are very few shafts and blades listed. The ones that are on there are very limited in variety.

Yeah they seem to be gone from the shelves. Once upon a time they were a good deal when they were about $100 for shafts and $50 for blades, but they are about $200 for a set now, and you can usually find last year's model sticks for $150 or less.

I ordered a custom blade from BASE a couple years ago. I think they still do them because the Savoy is a fused stick. Not going to be cheap, maybe $60-70 or so.

I do miss the days of finding clearance blades for $25-30 though.

Sales of shaft/blade combos were in freefall for years, so they're basically just responding to the market. People looking for value these days are buying price point OPS. And while I still have a couple shaft blade combos around, I haven't touched one in years, I use OPS exclusively now, so I'm part of the trend.
