Interesting observation considering the fact that the league is probably more star filled than it's been since the lock-out. And most definately more competative than it was last season. Just put the list of the guys leaving the league next to the one of the guys coming to the league, and you should be able to notice it.

The paragraph you cite refers to last year (2009-10) and in fact, finances were directly related to the player purges in Karpat and Espoo and to a lesser degree in some other clubs. When I refer to the levelling of the playing field, the fact that TPS won the league championship and JyP the regular season title - as opposed to Karpat, Jokerit and HIFK dominating things - to me stood out.

By no means did I mean to criticize the level of play and if that is the impression the article gave I will try to be more clear in the future.
