GENERAL

________________
Morning updates:

Lineup with Mike Comrie on L2 and enforcer Eric Godard on L4, Dupuis on L1.
Mark Letestu OR Craig Adams will be scratched. We keep waiting for news on this.
________________

After another loss (Maple Leafs) at the brand spanking new Consol Energy Arena, the Penguins take the ice again on Friday to try their first win in the building.
Wednesday, Chris Kunitz, Max Talbot and Sidney Crosby scored for the Pens, Clarke MacArthur scored twice, Colton Orr(!) and François Beauchemin added a couple more to make the score 4-3 for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Center Jordan Staal skated twice this week and plans to skate again likely Friday.
Staal, out indefinitely with a right foot injury, had skated only once over the summer because of multiple foot infections that followed his surgery in May to repair a torn tendon. The date of his return is still not defined.
Winger Arron Asham will also be out of action (for a couple of weeks), recovering from what might be a shoulder injury.

Defenseman Brooks Orpik is most probably out for the game with a groin injury, but his status is day-to-day and might return soon.
This would be excellent news, as Zbynek Michalek was declared out for the next 2-4 weeks, with what is believed to be a right shoulder injury.
Deryk Engelland and Andy Hutchinson will take their places once again.

Center Sidney Crosby and forward Evgeni Malkin have not recorded a third-period point this season. They have combined for two goals and two assists through four games.

Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury had a terrible night against the Leafs, allowing four goals on just 14 shots, despite an otherwise solid effort. Brent Johnson, the winningest goaltender in the team this season (001 wins) will start the Isles game and maybe as well on Saturday at Philly against the Flyers.

Other news:

The game against the Flyers on Saturday had a time change : from 7:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

The Penguins announced the schedule for the alternate jerseys, starting today with the baby blues.
Nine times more they'll sport this jersey during the season, and three times the Winter Classic Jersey.
Check out the dates>

ISLANDERS@PENGUINSLAST GAME (vs CAPITALS)GENERAL

Rookie winger Nino Niederreiter tallied the team’s first goal of the game against the Washington Capitals last Wednesday at 3:14 of the first - which was also the first of his professional career - and became the youngest Islander ever to score a goal.
The effort wasn't enough, though, as the Isles lost the game 1-2. Alex Ovechkin tied and Nicklas Backstrom scored the winner on a power play, after deflecting another Ovechkin's shot.

Center John Tavares left the opener against the Stars last Saturday with a mild concussion after meeting Stars winger Adam Burish's elbow.
Hes was evaluated on Monday and was back on the ice since Tuesday, apparently is recovering well, but is expected back more likely only on Saturday when the Isles return home to face the Avalanche. He didn't travel for the Caps game.
Another center, Rob Schremp, is expected to miss the first three or four weeks of the regular season with a strained lower back.

Right winger Kyle Okposo had a successful surgery on his right-shoulder on October 1 and hopes to return in December.
On the sane day, defenseman Mark Streit had surgery in his left shoulder and could miss up to six months. Third string goalie Nathan Lawson was placed on IR with a knee problem.

Defenseman James Wisniewski is suspended for two games (to be served versus the Caps and the Pens) for "doing his thing" in face of Sean Avery, Monday against the Rangers.
Bruno Gervais has been a healthy scratch - the Isles are carrying 8 defenders.

Goalie Dwayne Roloson played and was not guilty of the goals surrendered in Washington, but starter Rick DiPietro is expected to come back.

The Islanders had the Thursday off.

Penguins 7-3, last season.

In "Torrent of Melodies", David Gilmour - On An Island.
This number is offered by the Penguins fan base to James Wisniewski, with sympathy.

Uncle Martin fondly recalls the resistance Deryk Engelland's hand showed
after being punched by Colton Orr's chin (last game against the Leafs).

In an effort to light up the team, Coach John McGuirk invokes, directly from New Zealand, the Haka.
Not to be confused with a series of lewd gestures, the Haka is a traditional dance performed before games by the New Zealand national rugby union team, better known as the "All-Blacks".

I love early GDTs. I'm at work from 8-5 each day and don't get to partake in the daily discussion. Earlier the better.

Kinguin, this is one HELL of a GDT. Way to start it off strong.

I'm expecting Johnson to look like a backup in this one. The Isles look decent and they played Washington very tough. I also can't wait to see Eaton block 100 shots in this game.

Awesome as always, King.

Thanks for throwing in that video. Wish those guys could make an appearance in the lockerroom before the games.

Haha, this projection is by Kinguin, no alarm. They didn't publish lines at practice today, so, we'll have to wait for news tomorrow.

I'm considering they like Dupuis on L1 to the point of scratching Comrie and as Godard wasn't on the lineup before the Leafs game, I think is a logical guess. But, Trevor Gillies is expected to start for the Isles and so, Godard has a good chance of appearing back. Who's gonna be scratched, is just a guess at this point.

Great GDT as always, King.

It's going to be tough getting a win in Philly Saturday, so winning tomorrow becomes imperative. Hopefully Sid and Geno can each get multiple point games and start rolling.

I got an idea. Let's make Crosby or Malkin a healthy scratch and send the team a message!

I might not be able to watch this game...the ****** new guy at my work keeps calling in sick when it's a fact he is not sick, he just likes playing video games. He also wonders why his previous job did not like him....i swear if i miss this game there is going to be HELL to pay!

He could be considered a healthy scratch himself, the guy...

Just win, Pens, just win. While we wait, here's a fun game to pass the time:

Try to find the only player in the top 9 of either team that doesn't yet have a single point.

im still hoping we lose the next 5-7 games and Dan gets fired.

Comrie on the fourth line. This is just frigged ridiculous. We need this buffoon fired before he can do anymore damage. I may just write this season off for watching with how blatantly stupid our management is.

I'd vote the same, but Engelland proved his merit in the last game and he's going to be playing one way or another.

Regardless of the goon role or whatever, Rupp needs to be sat for a game or two. He's been the worst player on the ice for us so far.

Don't be surprised if Comrie ends up being scratched again.
They might wanna have Rupp to take on Konopka if needed.
Trevor Gillies dropped the Caps' D.J. King yesterday, is a big guy and more in Godard's league.

No, wait a minute: as I said, this is just a projection, nothing more.
At this point, nothing is confirmed. We have to wait for the morning news.

K, Thanks.

I was looking at post gazette and pittsburghpenguins.com and couldn't find the lineup.

I just can't believe that Disco Dan would be that stupid. Hopefully he is back with Geno where he belongs because Letestu wasn't moving his feet and working with Malkin.

Id have it

Kunitz-Crosby-Letestu
Tangradi-Comrie-Malkin

I believe Letestu can play right wing as I remember him playing that on Staal's line last year

You need to chill anyway......its Mike Comrie...he was available until a month ago for a reason. If he plays on the 4th line...its ok.

Yeah, they didn't published lines from practice yesterday and I don't wanna pass wrong information to you guys, so, no worries about the lines.
Any secure information popping out, I'll try to update them ASAP and add more stuff to the text.

This aside, well, many things are possible at this point in terms of lineup.

Plus Rupp is the 5th Penalty Killer right now...probably not your right...hmmmm. Comrie, Tangradi, Letestu, Godard, or Kennedy. Those are really the only 5 that can sit until Staal comes back. Its probably Comrie again and maybe on Saturday too. He should be back for Ottawa.
