Which is often silly.

There is a reason why a guy winds up on waivers. One would be wise to inquire why before hyperventilating at scooping up fringe fodder.
There really is no downside to the Pens picking up a guy like Brunnstrom, though. Not when muckers and grinders are doing the opposite of producing with Sidney Crosby. Not when the team feels forced into moving one of the best centers in the NHL in Evgeni Malkin to wing to try to help the winger situation.

Brunnstrom's 25. He's at that age when we should know pretty soon whether or not he's headed for the NHL garbage bin or whether he can actually contribute in this league. Why not take a chance?

Besides, the Pens have to move out a couple of forwards eventually anyway, because the logjam of bottom six talent is going to get more crowded when Asham and Staal return. Why not start now and add more skill to the roster at the same time?

As I'm sure many will agree, I think Brunnstrom will be claimed.

It's a simple choice for a team with lesser aspirations. He has ability, and I think with the right situation he could find it (that said, a poor team who might get him might not be the best option). On a good roster, I think he could do well.

while they wouldnt probably do it, he would be worth taking a look at on the flyers. Carcillo is not a top 9 player the way the flyers have their lineup set up. He has a cheap contract. They have cap space. Give him a look, he doesnt pan out no big deal really.

The Stars are a good roster. That's why he was a healthy scratch.

With Drury back on the IR Rangers have space. They have alot of kids in Hartford to callup so I doubt they get Brunnstrom but Valibak makes sense for them

I can see Gilroy booted for a pick

Yes, but Brunnstrom wouldn't be the first guy who simply wasn't a good fit somewhere, but then found his niche somewhere else.

I could see Minnesota taking a chance on Brunnstrom.

Oh Valabik...hard to believe he was once a first round pick.

I would say they have a good collection of forwards. With that defense I wouldn't say a good roster.

Their top 6 is pretty good. They have some solid players throughout the lineup.

To say a good roster? We'll see if they wind up in the playoffs I guess.

I just don't know that he fit in that roster, irregardless of how good they are or aren't.

With all the injuries of the Red Wings I would love for them to pick up Brunnstrom

Please fall to the Pens!

Islanders could use either of these guys though...

These two players will definitely find a place in the league this year, although a jump to the KHL is not of discussion next year, as Valabik is eastern European, and Brunnstrom is a soft top 6-er that couldn't secure a spot in a not so great Dallas offense.

Could work in Pitts. Crosby could beat the lazy out of him. And he can just get fed from the Kid.

Seriously? And the Stars are old, slow, and too defensively-oriented. What am I missing here?

Their forwards ain't the reason they have missed the playoffs

I could see them looking at Valabik more, IMO. The Rangers defense has been nothing short of brutal. The offense on the other hand, has looked alright.

This was the guy they touted as being the "best player in the world not playing in the nhl". Teams got into a bidding war for him. Similar to the hype Gustavvson in TO made when he announced he was coming over here.
I don't put a lot of faith in undrafted players these days. There have been a few exceptions but they would all fit in the front seat of a Prius.

Isn't Gaborik injured now?
