Dumb move, but just because a player shows emotion doesn't mean he puts himself before the team. Avery's certainly not doing what he does solely for himself- unless he has a fetish where he gets off on everyone except Rangers fans hating him.
Yeah, it was two whacks on the shin pads, Komi embellished. Still a boneheaded play though. I bet that wouldn't have happened if Army didn't run away when he was challenged.

Aves gonna sit for one or two...

I'll give you the edge in the Boogarrd/Orr fight, I know Orr backed off tn but it might be because he got caught bad against the Pens.

Well, think of all the cap space this will free up on the LTIR (Drury & Prospal).

Call Dallas, Glen.

No. Avery doesn't try for knee on knee career ending attacks.

What's the matter with some people. Avery is not like Tucker at all. If people are not smart enough to know the difference, they should just shut up and not talk at all.

Avery doesn't try to put players out of hockey. Tucker did.

Positives:

Brian Boyle looks markedly improved (not just because he scored twice) and I take back whatever I said about him being expendable. He belongs on this team

Callahan just plays his ass off every night. I don't know how anyone could want to trade this guy

Lundqvist, despite having a nearly 4 GAA, played unbelievably well. Further proof that goalie stats can be horribly misleading.

Eminger looked like an NHL player tonight with a bit of snarl

Avery played exceptionally well except for that stupidity with the stick.

Play White @ C. Have Gandalf summon Frodo. Let's see what happens.

This is interesting. Reggi Dunlops infamous quote comes to mind - "I am personally placing a hundred-dollar bounty on the head of Tim McCracken. He's the head coach and chief punk on that Syracuse team. "

Collect the hundred bucks by chopping down a few Leafs on the 21st Mr Boogeyman. And do it brutally

Wow I can't believe I missed this game. Can I have a quick summary? I'm unbelievably angry right now with the injuries.

Armstrong is a coward and Komi is a diving coward? haha. can't help but find that funny after bringing up Avery of all people.

don't care what team you cheer for...that **** was DIRTY from Avery.

have you ever been hit in the back of the ankle by a stick? it hurts, no matter how lightly you're hit....

anyways, shouldn't have even got a point tonight. that point was giftwrapped by Giguere. great game by Lundqvist.

Yeah - they "saw" it after the TV timeout. Obviously they watched it on the jumbo-tron....I mean, a linesmen saw it and told the refs about it

So we have 2 prospals on the team?

Gimme a break, you don't just MAGICALLY break a finger just because he returned "early" (even though it said out for 3 weeks) doesn't mean he just re-injured it on a feather touch.

Leafs fan here. But that was one HELL of a performance by Sean Avery, and one of the best performances I've seen from a pest against the leafs in a while. I was with a bunch of friends, and the way they were resenting Avery I than knew just how well he was playing. Although the two handed-slashes weren't all that classy , really overshadowed how well he played.

Lunqdvist was great as well, and it's a shame about Gaborik. It was definitely a great game, as the Leafs and Rangers have played such good games against each other over the past few years; these next 2 games this month versus you should be awesome.

The first "slash" was a love tap. The 2nd slash was legit. Any other player I'd say not a chance in hell there's a suspension. Because it involves Avery there's a 25% chance.

Wow, that Ace Frehley pregame was an absolute train wreck. Could they have gone any cheaper? Was 'Puppet Show' too busy? Those Ranger dollars don't buy what they used to !

It was like they heard him do it in warm up's and were like man we better make sure this guy doesn't do this out on the ice.

It was soooo bad they had to, it was a mercy cutaway. You could still hear the loud boos

His earphone was bleeding into the mic so you heard the track playing and him being horribly off key and off time.

Overall the laziest and lowest budgeted feel to opening night I've witnessed in some time.

It sounded like there was something wrong with the sound system. Or maybe it was just that bad of a song.

Agreed, all I want on opening night is individual introductions, and a good national anthem. Stinks that Amirante was not there tonight, but Daniel Rodriguez did a great job. You could just feel the Rangers and Leafs were ready to go, and here is Ace butchering this song.
