All this Eller talk with J.Staal, I have to say, since my friend mentioned it, I've been noticing it more and more that it is true. That Lars Eller reminds me and myfriend (eaglesmaster) of Mats Sundin. Eller just has that element of his game where when he gets the puck hes able to just slow down the play and he does not freak out and try to get rid of it. He really looks like Mats Sundin out there at times.

You know AK is playing good when Brunet admits it.

Is this going to be a break out year for Gorges? He's been putting up points since preseason.

Preseason:
4 games
0 goals
6 points

Season:
4 games
1 goals
3 points

He did put up good offensive numbers in junior and defensemen do tend to round out their game in their late 20s. Never know...he's averaging over 24min a game too.

Gomez and his 800 million can rot on the 4th line, what a disappointment.

It would be nice if Gorges is able to contribute a bit more offensively this season.
But he doesn't have the shot to do a whole lot of damage consistently. But it's true that defensemen tend to mature later than most players so it wouldn't be a stretch to see him to take more time to grow an offensive touch in the NHL.
I'd be satisfied with anything between 20-35 points from him but he's grown into a very fine defensive defenseman so it wouldn't be a letdown if he doesn't make the next step.

Also, I really love Eller's style. He really does have that mix of size, talent and work ethic we've been waiting for a long time. I'd love to see what he could do on a top 6. I'm not an expert but he looks to me as he could end up being a similar player to Mikko Koivu in a few years down the road.

We scored two garbage goals and barely won against a sabres team that is looking absolutely dreadful at this point in time.

There's a reason Buffalo was 1-2-1 before tonight's game.

That said, I don't think we have a terrible team, but we played like a terrible team tonight.

Very encouraged about Subban, Price, AK, Plek and Gorges all showing good things.

Gorges is incredible. Its hard to predict what his ceiling really is... Years ago he was a projected 7th forward, two years ago a decent no 5 or 6, last year a good no 5, perhaps no 4 and now this year he looks like a decent second pairing d-man.

Hopefully not, I'd rather wait until we sign him long term for being a stay at home dman, then get the benefits. I mean, imagine if he breaks out offensively, with his heart, we'd have to pay him $2.5 minimum if not $3+

Thing about him is he can play any situation and has been playing big minutes, usually top of the team. I remember with markov he was pretty solid but reality is, he's a smart player who compliments players well. Now markov is out and he's getting more time, his stats are likely to go down once markov returns.

To be rational, he has same stats as komisarek.(1g, 2a, 4 games) So don't get too excited. We'll see how it plays out.

But due to injuries... Gill filled in as a top4 also. Do we have 6 top4 d-man? Also Gorges at the begining of last year and end of last year is not the same player imho.

I can't wait till we have a younger D.

If weber(2 assists tonight) and carle have a good year and o'byrne improves, thats a pretty young core with markov and gorges, with spacek next year providing leadership. Obviously, there may be an addition on blue line but just saying, young homegrown talent(except for gorges) is a good sign!

passes way too much instead of shooting but if he puts on some weight, could be a very good top 6 player

weber and carle have maxed out imo

Obyrne will improve, he put up with alot and is still in the show, I mean, getting arrested and taking the heat for your cheatin goalie, then gettin scored on, giving up a goal, gotta give the guy respect.

He has never complained, never heard of a peep, I mean even the great Halak complained at one point.
