I give him a lot of credit for Keith, Seabrook, Byfuglien and Burish. I remember that draft and thought it was a very good draft by Smith at the time and couldn't help but wonder why it took him so long to draft some solid N/A players instead of high risk, high reward Euros. It was just too little, too late as far as him staying around to see how they turned out. He wanted that next Russian star so bad and that ended up being the death of him with the Hawks. Good on him for changing course and leaving the organization with some great talent.
