+ Penguins fans. I don't know if any of you went, and if any of you did I would love to hear about it, but from the sound of it on TV, it sure did seem like we had a heck of a presence, way more than what Philly has in Pittsburgh.
We had a Steeler-type following there.

very, very early but the pens have three of of the top 10 scoring defensemen in the league right now. they've also played more games than almost everyone else, but it's at least nice to see the group pick up the slack with no gonchar.

1. Liles, COL (0-7-7)
2. Goligoski, PIT (3-3-6)
3. Carlson, WSH (1-5-6)
4. Martin, PIT (1-5-6)
5. Leopold, BUF (2-2-4)
6. Wisniewski, NYI (1-3-4)
7. Letang, PIT (0-4-4)
8. McCabe, FLA (0-4-4)
9. Lidstrom, DET (0-4-4)
10. 16 tied with 3

I'm going to love this defense when Orpik and Michalek come back. Even Letang, outside of that first game, has been playing pretty well so far.

true, but i think most of them were rooting for the flyers. from interviews with tangradi, it sounds like only the close family has actually shifted allegiance.

+ Sid remaining the most hated man in Philly

+ Letestu

+ Defensive game. I really never would've expected our D to remain as solid as it has been in the absence of Orpik and Michalek. Everyone is stepping up!

+Johnson. Who would've thought that our 1 million dollar #2 would be outplaying our 5 million dollar #1.

+PK

-Geno's giveaways

-Comrie disappearing act

-PP still smelling pretty bad, no matter what happened in the 3rd period

-Lazy overall effort on even strength

I've REALLY liked what I've been seeing from Letang thus far. His play in the defensive zone in particular really seems to have grown from last season in my opinion. His positioning is better, and he's sacrificing himself to make the big defensive plays.

Pens played wonderful tonight. Complete opposite of what I expected. I have renewed hope...not that I lost any this early, but just saying.

We can beat anyone, great win, mad pressure, mad chances. dominated.

Great game.

The sad thing is, it's not even a joke. He really does look like he's about the bawl his eyes out on camera.

Check out Jeff Carter's post game comments in comparison:

"I didn't mean to come around and get [Goligoski] in the face," Carter said. "He was battling and I was obviously careless with my stick. That was kind of the turning point of the game. We've got to be careful with our penalties. They really shot us in the foot tonight.

"It's a 2-1 game there, and we started taking some penalties, and the next thing you know, it's 4-1."

Thats a tough one. I usually say Stu Barnes but if I had to go with a high end guy it would be Paul Stastny.

Hi guys, i'm knew to the board and hockey

i thought i was starting to understnd it a little, but i thot when a player played good, he would be put on a higher line?

Can anyone xplain why that #10 Lutestu plays so good, but gots demoted to the forth line?

I think our coach doesnt want to make him all tired out, and is letting him rest. I think that is kind of neat of our coach. He seems liek a nice guy!

Go Pens!!!!

Anyone here like star wars?

I thought Sid was flat out terrible for the first two periods. It's great that he got those goals, but for two periods I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I think my concerns about the lack of physicality on our blueline have been pretty much squashed. If Martin can continue playing his game and Letang can play how he did last night, I'm confident in saying that Shero has assembled one of the better puck possession defenses in the game.

You don't have to beat an opponent into submission. Just routinely taking the puck off of them before they can do anything with it works just as well. Letang was taking the puck off the Flyers time after time last night and sending it the other way. Fantastic game by him.

Hi, and abord, bro!

Your right, Lupescu (#10) plays good, but he's 2 prone to be tired.
He wantz play more, but coach is worrid bout him.
One day, Lup was saying in loker room: "boyz, im tired of not getting a ****ing credit card", and coach said to assistant: "see?, cut a cople more minutez".

Our coach is realy nice, he likes ABBA and Andy Gibb (I love those) and putz Lupescus on forth and give popcorn and a magic cube (). He already get to make 2 faces.

Da other day, #10 asked da coach 2 give #10 more time 2 play, then coach bought a giant toy firemen truck for him and let him play more Bhind the bench.

I luv star warz and I luv Boba Fett.

GO PENZ!

I'm really pleased with how both Engelland and Lovejoy have been able to fill the void thus far. Lovejoy has displayed some good puck-poise, while Engelland has been an absolute beast in his own end!

-Tangradi: 10mins ice time
+Letang: 27mins ice time

Kudos to DB for isolating his fresh legs and riding Letang.

Letang was really good last night at both ends. Goligoski was good, too, but I hope his ES time is going to be limited once everyone's back. He was very shaky yet again in his own zone.
