Maroon is not going to be on this roster, let's just stop with the Maroon fluffing. And of the choices avalailable I prefer Powe, Kalinski, Nodl all above Maroon. His weakness is skating, that is not something you can easily overcome.
All the above guys you mention though, their weakness is offense. Your not going to find a guy who as it all at this point. Your going to have to sacrifice in an area or 2. The flyers at this point odnt seem to concerned abotu the offensive part from that #9 guy. Those guys have shown they are not a solution. Maroon may not be either. He keeps playing well on the farm, he should get a look, nothing more or less.
I have not seen any phantoms games this year, so unless he totally changed, Maroon isnt mean or or all that physical. He is/was weak along the boards. Well the flyers brass disagress or he would be here, though they hsould give him a shot to see what he can do as the others cant cut it.
I have to question whether or not you've ever seen Maroon play.
At the very least I know you saw our last preseason game. He was physical in that game for sure. He drops the gloves, plays the crease, hits along the boards when he's in position, and uses his size effectively.
I consider Maroon a physical player, definitely more physical than his more skilled counter-part JVR.

As described before there seems to be pieces that do not fit into the system. The one thing Laviolette relies on though is the ability to skate. Each of those players can at least skate, maybe not provide offense but they can skate. If Homer and Laviolette would get out of the three line offense idea and stack two lines it still could work with Richards captaining a "checking line" but two lines with some firepower and a 3rd line with a designed role. Heck, once Carcillo is haelthy that is the type of role he would be perfect in, do not worry about scoring, just hit anyone who has the puck and cause some chaos.

I dont see them going that route though. It would be better imo as well to have Richards in that role, hwo would his wingers be though? I dont think i want Carcillo, Powe, or Nodl out against top line guys. People seem to forget how clsoe thsi team was to being somewhat gutted had they lost that shootout. I have no problem trading carter or hartnell but dont have the faith of the GM to comeout on top of any deal.
Ive been saying it all summer and I dont think its too late but we should give Owen Nolan a call. The guy still has plenty left in the tank. Had a good season last year and would be perfect for the third line. A veteran leader that would be a great role model for guys like JVR and Giroux. Plus he's always willing to stand up for team mates.
Carter and Richards need to be split up. They are a combined -7 and a combined -10 in the last three games. The Hartnell - Briere - Leino line must stay though. They've been looking good. And it's quite a headache since Giroux is a good center too.
I'd like to try this:
Hartnell - Briere - Leino
JVR - Richards - Giroux
Nödl - Carter - Zherdev
Powe - Betts - Shelley
probably more important to worry about the 1 and 2 lines before worrying about the 3.
Not when we play the 3rd line and they go and get scored on everytime their out there. Wont mean **** if the first 2 lines are working. You dont understand how bad of a Nodl/Carcillo-Leino-Zherdev line would be.
