If we took on a $7 million salary, we would have to counter with a $7 million salary and Gomez comes to mind. The Flames need centre help, as Langkow looks to be retiring, Stajan isn't a #1 and Morrison is on a one year deal looking to cash in on another deal.

Iginla and Gomez would be an ideal swap, but there would have to be more to it to make it work.

Not. Even. Close.

Keith Yandle is amazing this year, plus what do we do when Markov comes back?

I think that when you want to make a trade you must look at a team's needs and not target players that have good cap hit and playing great with the opposing team.

Do you think the hab organization might be losing patience with Markov and decide to trade him?
The habs need a forward to play with the gomez and gionta line, maybe Moulson and some 1st rounders might do it?

Mathieu Darche ($0.500m) / Jeff Halpern ($0.600m) / Benoit Pouliot ($1.350m)

I'm thinking about it, and i'm pretty sure they would give us Boyes for a bag of pucks.

Are you nuts?

St.Louis would probably trade him for a mid round pick just to dump his salary the way he is playing.

If we get cap room by Markov going on LITR, we need it to add a d-man, not another forward.

The Islanders are not crazy enough to trade 2 1st rounders(possible lottery pick) for an injured d-man who will be a UFA next summer, they'd be paying his salary to heal.

now that is almost certain that Markov is out for the season , we need to forget about Markov and move foward. Let's bring thoose BIG MAN to our D core :

Regehr-Bieska
Harmlik-Subban
Gorges-Picard
Gill

Bieska is almost free to acquired and spacek + pick or prospect for Regher.

intimiding defense is intimiding

It's almost certain he is out for the season? Since when?

Calgary will want a top prospect plus a pick for Reghr and if they were to take Spacek's contract the pick would have to be a 1st and the prospect would need to be Eller, Tinordi or LeBlanc...NO.

Then come to some other arrangment like:
Moulson and Islanders two first round picks for Markov and Canadiens two first round picks.

Why would the Islanders give up much for Markov? HE WILL BE A UFA IN 8 MONTHS!!!! Plus he is probably out 2-3 months or more, so they would pay 2 big assets plus the salary of a guy taht may never play a game for them???

Their season is in the crapper, their 1st might be Couturier or Larsson, so it's one of their top 2-3 assets.

one.. this is one of the stupidest trade proposals I've seen in a while.

I don't see many teams willing to give up that much for a healthy Markov. Why would the Islanders, one of the worst teams in the league, would need Markov? I'm trying to understand but I can't. Are they going for the cup?

oh lol okay I thought you were proposing it, I figured it out that you were quoting the person.

And yes its absolutely bananas bat **** nonsense

I think MTL should focus on Setoguchi, his value is low atm, and he is perfect for our system, we can get him for next to nothing.

To MTL: Setoguchi
To SJ:Weber, 4th round pick in the 2011 draft (said to be weak as hell, very top heavy).

Yes we lose Weber but I'm a huge Seto fan, and at the draft his potential was a first liner, i still believe he can fulfill that potential, hes 23, not 33.

His value is LOWER, I don't think it's necessarily LOW. Weber is worth more than "low" value, but I think San Jose would want more than that anyways, he's scored 30 goals(2 years ago) and is only 23. For the Habs there is a risk that he is like Cheechoo and he is just a product of playing with Thornton/Marleau/Boyle.

I think they would prefer to trade him for an established PMD over a guy in the AHL maybe a year away in Weber. I heard rumors of a Beauchemin-Setogucchi deal.

I tend to agree but I think Toronto would add a prospect and SJ a pick to even it up.

Beauchemin at 2.8 mil is solid value, at 3.8 his value is not a lot, sort of like Spacek.

Trade Markov?

I don't think that'll happen but hopefully when it comes time to negotiate a new contract he decides to sign on the cheap because of his recent injuries.
