People are making this season sound like a Telemundo tele-novella already. I'm eagerly awaiting Hobey Baker's return from the dead and the paternity test for Crosby's child, and we're only 7 games into the season!

a lock? I don't think so. If anyone is going to fight Engelland it will be Carkner but if Carkner is paired with Phillips he wont be fighting.

I was at the Bell Centre on Saturday. The Sens were pretty bad. I expect them to be a lot better tonight. Elliott played alright, but he let a very bad rebound late for Plekanec' game-winner. I think there is a lot of pressure on Elliott to take the No. 1 job now. Anyways, Sarge looks like he's going to need time to get used to his new teammates, and they need time to adjust to his game. Kovy looked pretty much done, which saddens me. I'll always love the guy. I will always appreciate those that try to entertain while still in the midst of an intense competition.

As for us, I watched the Philly game late Saturday night when I got home. That was by far our best game this season. Sid's best game by far, too. Coincidence? I think not. I believe we can ONLY look like the Penguins when Sid's playing like Sid. He's the meal ticket. The straw that stirs the drink. The Mayanna (Seinfeld reference). When Sid struggles, we will struggle.

Lastly, I am glad if Fleury is pissed off. It's about time. I believe he's been cajoled too much since his rookie season. When you suck, you need to be called out. When you play well, then that is the time to throw flowers at the Blooming Flower's feet (never call him Flower like Steigerwald does; that's forever Guy Lafleur).

I sense a letdown tonight. Hope I'm wrong.

1) Neil and Engelland are "light" HWs. They are very similar in that they can hold their own against the big-time HWs when necessary.
2) Carkner will more likely match up with Godard or Rupp.
3) It is less likely for two dmen (Engelland,Carkner) to find each other. Neil will be in Engelland's grill. Rupp/Godard will spend a lot of time in Carkner's defensive zone.
4) Carkner is an legit NHL HW. He will fight when the situation calls for it no matter who he is paired with.

Engelland vs Neil - very likely, mark it down
Rupp/Godard vs Carkner -maybe

I hope for Rupp's sake he doesn't go toe-to-toe with Carkner. Let Godard handle him.

It's a shame Asham's not healthy, yet. He and Cooke paired up would be great for this sort of game.

Shelley > Carkner, IMO. Rupp was fine against Shelley.

It would be amusing to see Asham pound Ruutu... but then again Ruutu would duck Asham and look for a lightweight or non-fighter.

To be fair Rupp had a solid showing against Shelley when I truly expected him to receive a beatdown. Though he should let Godard fight Carkner if Godard is in the lineup. Hopefully Craig Adams doesn't have to go with Carkner again.

We should really win this game with ease as Ottawa have been awful this season so far and threw away a lead against the Toronto Maples. Saying that, we've only looked good against the Phildelphia Flyers so a repeat performance would be grand.

Adams and Rupp both looked so beat all the time when Godard wasnt healthy last year.
I just felt bad looking at them.

I just read this on LGP and although it has to do with the Flyers game a couple days ago, I wanted to post it here.

Quote:
So they are interviewing this little flyers mite hockey player with his Flyers jersey on. Asking him a bunch of questions, so at the end they asked him, what do you want to be when you grow up. Of course you are thinking what everyone in the crowd is thinking....Here's what he says..

"I wanna be a Pittsburgh Penguin"

Oh the joy. I was crackling up. It was so unexpected. The crowd started to boo. The announce then comes on and says please don't boo the youung boy.
Another poster said his daughters were there and confirmed that it happened.

Hilarious.

If Comrie's only being played on the 4th line, he's a waste of a roster spot. Might as well dress Adams if that's where Comrie is slotted.

Here's a novel concept. How about Comrie with Crosby and Kunitz, and drop Dupuis to 4th line? I mean, it would make sense given their respective skillsets and attributes.

I rarely listen to what Bylsma says , but I heard him say it when Errey was talking to him on the bench during a game (I think it was Errey)

Hm....Richards & Carter Vs. Crosby & Malkin, I think I take the two future HOF'ers.

That would trump ever playing for my home town team 100 out of 100 times.

Edit: I have also updated the line ups, not much in that regard & fixed the Gonchar tribrute.

I also heard a sound byte on the radio with him saying it, but what was funny was how he actually hesitated before he said it. It was like he realized he was about to say it, but he had already committed to it.

This is per the official site.

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Tangradi-Comrie-Malkin
Cooke-Talbot-Kennedy
Rupp-Letestu/Adams-Godard

Guess it's a game time decision.

On the new arena keeping the Penguins in Pittsburgh:
When there was the bankruptcy and everyone said the team would leave. I knew it would never happen because of Mario (Lemieux). I knew that Mario would keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh where they should be.

I still remember his interview with Stan and Guy the summer after getting traded when he was at Mario's golfing charity thing. After Stan asked "Will you ever come back?" To which Kolvalev said "Maybe after they move to Las Vegas"

What a two faced rat. To think he use to be one of my favorites.
