Prospal can at least carry the puck in the offensive zone for some extended period of time. That is more than we can say about a bunch of our forwards.

When you're as positionally sound as Drury is, you don't need to be agile. He leaves his position to block a shot at the right time. That's why it usually isn't a problem when he does it. He's not perfect at it, but the percentage is high enough that the misses aren't a problem.

flubs on clearing attempts way too often.

He does, you're right about that.

not strong pker in the neutral zone or in the offensive zone. does not apply pressure on the defenseman, rather sits back and waits to attempt a shot block.

He's a very strong pker in the neutral zone. He's one of the league's best at taking away passing lanes and forcing the puckcarrier into making a bad decision. You don't have to have the puck on a penalty kill to be successful at killing penalties.

lets contrast that with Cally who actually is an excellent penalty killer. Cally has superb agility. it seems like he can defend 3 guys at once because he adjusts to where the puck is passed so well. You want to talk about eating clock? how many times have we seen Cally keep control of the puck in the offensive zone for 10, 15 seconds a clip. We also see Cally force miscues by the defense and turn them into breakaways or odd man rushes because he can pounce on the defenseman as hes receiving a pass (again, agility).

Callahan is also a terrific penalty killer, for the reasons you listed. He's a different player. But both methods are effective. In fact, when used together, they're perfect compliments. They make a great penalty killing pair. Drury and Callahan are both elite penalty killers in this league.
