I love this, but chances are good that Letestu ends up being your new "way too good to be a #3 center" centreman.

Letestu playing this well has completely secured the idea of Staal in the top 6. That's 100% happening as soon as he's healthy.

As I wrote in the GDT, I haven't been a big fan of Malkin's adjustment to wing. But, once the other two forwards were Letestu and Comrie, Malkin was in game 6 SCF defensive rover mode. Take out Comrie, put in Staal . . . I'll hate to play against that line.
As long as he keeps stealing pucks up high and cheating, I'm fine with it.

I still can't explain how he's still winding up the middle and having the puck just roll off his stick.

I'd rather not screw around with the kid's rhythm. Just gotta come to grips with the fact that we're a team that's ridiculously deep down the middle, but disgustingly thin on the wings...

I'd pray to God for our salvation from Dupuis, but the last time I prayed, it was for my 1 year old dog not to need 5K in knee surgeries for her back legs. Didn't work.

Letestu playing this well has secured his own place in the top 6, be it on wing with Sid and Kunitz or on wing with Staal and Malkin (my preference).

I'm not gonna hate on Dupuis. I've always liked the guy, and I still do till this day. I do however hope that TK can make a strong enough name for himself to take his L1 spot on Sid's wing, with Duppers filling in the L3 RW spot. Dupuis can actually be a hell of a player when used in the proper role.

He and Gonchar/Kovalev were playing chess with each other all game. It was Gonch out there, and I'm sure he got ahead of himself. Conversely, he picked on one Kovy where the Sens had the puck in the Pens zone, Kovy wheeled high, and Malkin took away the saucer pass because he knew Kovy would make a saucer pass thinking Malkin was taking away the flat pass . . .

And, where do you put Ahsam. In a sense, I see us having 2 third lines of Cooke-Talbot-Asham (your instigators) and Rupp-Adams-Duper (your defensive grinders). I'd love to see TK claim the L1 RW spot and to see Letestu-Staal-Malkin . . . that might become the Pens shut down line, with Staal being Staal, Letestu just playing smart hockey, and Malkin being the roving puck hawk.

P.S.: I suppose that leaves Comrie SOL, although I'm sure he'll get another shot with Sid.

I bet Letestu can play wing just fine... left wing so he'll have more good angle shots off rushes, etc. If we get healthy and keep improving and Letestu doesn't fall off... by December it should be:

Kunitz - Sid - Comrie
Letestu - Malkin - TK
Cooke - Staal - Dupuis
Rupp - Talbot - Asham
Godard

Adams gets waived (and probably picked up)

So ridiculous.

Let's just keep all our good players, shall we?

He's been solid in virtually every game he's played in the NHL. He's not going to score 80 points, but getting 40 and being a quality two-way player with second to fourth line versatility is very possible. He's smart and talented. He also has some clear offensive skill, which showed pretty clearly on that snipe tonight.

The guy's a permanent NHLer, if nothing else.

Call me old-fashioned, but I'd rather just have four awesome centers.

Makes you wonder if some people don't like the idea of having a roster full of talented people who can play in the positions they were meant to play, as opposed to shoe-horning them into other positions because of a lack of depth. And the funniest part is I think Letestu could be a pretty good winger, so must be all the more reason to trade him if he can play two positions well, log good minutes and is inexpensive.

Go here and make a trade proposal. Staal for Ovechkin. Do it!

I'm sorry but having Letestu on the fourth line is a horrible idea.

Now, hear me out, the guy has 7 points in 7 games. Certainly he isn't going to keep this pace over the season. If he ends with 40 points at the end of the year, I'll be impressed.
That said, you do not put a 40 point guy on the fourth line. His minutes would be miniscule. The contributions from his linemates would be non-existant.
Talbot is the better fit at 4th line center. Don't waste Letestu on the 4th line, please.

Crosby
Staal
Letestu
Talbot/Adams

As far as current NHLers go I see some Zajac in Letestu.... a smart shifty player who has no single oustanding skill, but is very good at everything and who plays well with superstars. he's not an ideal first or second line center on his own (like zajac) but when you put him with creative star players (Parise is to Zajac what Malkin could be to Letestu) not only does he not look out of place but he excells.

Imagine if Letestu had Zajacs size to go along with his skillset, work ethic and hockey sense....

But why trade Staal? Leave Letestu as Malkins center and let him play with whichever of Comrie or ET who plays best between now and then and keep staal on the third line with Cooke and one of Asham/TK/Dupers

He's eligible.

But even if he keeps up his strong play, I think his age will hurt him in the voting.

Trade everyone, especially Malkin and Staal for talented wing help for Sid.
