Good signing if true...will help the PK, add some grit, and replace a bit of what was lost when Nichol left. A warrior loved everywhere he's ever played.

Not expecting that. Hope he still has gas left in his tank. Could end up like the Bouillon signing from last year.

IIRC, JP listed him as his closest friend in the NHL in one of the yearbooks (don't judge me, I pay attention to that type of thing). Maybe having him around will give him a boost too, especially if they end up playing together a little bit. Just a thought.

Steve Begin is to the 2010-11 Nashville Predators as Dave Scatchard is to the 2009-10 Nashville Predators.

Sounds like good news for the Milwaukee Admirals then... Scatch was critical in their success last year.

edit: should be noted he's starting his season in Milwaukee too. We'll see if he ever gets called up.

Seeing Scatchard play last weekend made me miss having him to mentor the kids in Milwaukee. He's still got something left in the tank. Hopefully Begin can provide a similar influence but I'm not looking forward to any situation which would result in his call up.

Per TSN, Begin has to clear waivers simply because he signed after opening day rosters were set, and this doesn't necessarily mean the Predators intend to send Begin to Milwaukee, and in fact opines that he doesn't believe that to be the case.

I take that back, Bob McKenzie has corrected himself...the waiver rule only applies to UFAs signed out of Europe. Begin signed for depth.

those idiot Green Men in Vancouver actually credit themselves for "ending" Scatchard's NHL career.

Scatchard netted two in Texas over the weekend. Looked pretty good. Not NHL top six material anymore, but, a hell of a AHL guy and potential bottom six callup.

Makes sense. I believe Dumont and Begin were teammates in Val d'Or in the 'Q'.

Signed forward Steve Begin to a one-year, two-way contract and assigned him to Milwaukee (AHL) after clearing waivers.
Do you guys for-see him to get recalled in the near future?

really depends on the injuries. there's no spot for him at the moment, with Spaling playing well in Goc's absence. There's also the fact that Klasen and Halischuk are both potentially above him on the depth chart.

Haha, over on the Canucks boards, there's a couple of us that are commenting that the green guys are making our city look bad. And here I was hoping no one but us noticed them...

I'm sure most of the fans have the same impression we do - that they are the typical NHL fan in Vancouver!
