Kind of a more quiet rumor, but Bobby Ryan and a 1st for Sundin

There was one from the Kings: Frolov, Stoll and a 2nd.

Other offers from the Sharks included a variety of players including Marleau, Vlasic, Clowe, Ehrhoff.

Back when Redden was good there was a rumor that Redden was to be traded for Patrick Marleau but it was either nixed or Redden decided not to waive his NTC.

I think that was in 07 when Anaheim was under Burke who wanted to win the cup and probably thought Sundin would put them over the top but I believe Leafs were in the race so Sundin said no and Anaheim still won.

Wasn't Sundin almost traded at the deadline in 2008 for Pavelski or Setoguchi plus someone else but Sundin didn't waive his NTC.

I'm pretty sure it was Matt Carle and a 1st, but they traded Steve Bernier and a 1st for Brian Campbell instead.

Yeah there was the Matt Carle one as well. I'm fairly positive there was a Redden/Marleau one as well, maybe a pick going San Jose's way.

If true , which i doubt alot , this is absolutely insane .
A 40 goal scorer + a first for Kaberle !? when you already have Timonen , Pronger, Coburn, Carle ...

I think that was 4-5 years ago.

Rumor out of Boston at the 2008-09 tradeline was:

Phil Kessel to St. Louis for David Perron and Keith Tkachuk. (Again, rumor) but the word is St. Louis got cold feet and pulled out.

Bobby Ryan + 12th Overall for Both Sedins at the draft. To think, some Vancouver fans were unhappy that we didn't take that deal and run when Ryan finally came into the league..

Lecavalier for Kaberle, Hoglund and a 1st or Brad Boyes was agreed upon. The Lightning ownership thought it would continue the perpetual rebuild the Lightning were stuck in and blocked it and fired Rick Dudley soon after.

Off the top of my head, the closest one I can remember is Sakic to the Rangers in I think 2000 as an RFA. Avs mathced, of course.

The Sakic offer sheet was in the 1997 offseason.

Some other 'known' deals:

Mike Comrie was holding out in 2003 and the Oilers agreed to trade him to Anaheim for prospect Corey Perry and a 2004 1st round pick. Kevin Lowe bungled the deal by demanding that Comrie pay Edmonton 2.5 million to complete the deal. Comrie balked and eventually got traded to Philadelphia for prospect Jeff Woywitka, Philly's 1st in 2004 and Philly's 3rd in 2005.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/story/2003/...rie031210.html

When the Senators dealt Alexei Yashin to the Islanders, allegedly Mike Milbury had put a similar offer (Muckalt/Chara/2nd overall) to the Bruins for Jason Allison. The Bruins demanded Dave Scatchard instead of Muckalt and the Isles opted for Yashin.

From a Washington Caps' behind the 2006 Draft special:

- George McPhee was on the phone with new Penguins GM Ray Shero to get a feel who they were picking at #2 (Washington held #4). Shero mentions that he has a deal on the table to trade #2 to Carolina for Jack Johnson. Obviously the Penguins opted to keep the pick.

- Before making the 4th overall pick, Boston approached the Caps about making a deal. The Bruins offered up #5 and #37. Washington asked who they'd select and the Bruins rep said "The Swede" aka Nicklas Backstrom. The Caps politely declined and drafted Backstrom.

I wouldn't exactly call the way McPhee went about that deal "polite".

Whaaaaaaa???

Trade Deadline 2009 had Pronger and Moen to Boston for a return that I don't remember.
Just imagine Pronger-Chara.

2nd overall in 2006 for Jack Johnson to reunite the BFFs(Crosby and Johnson) but Shero passed.
