After a victory over Edmonton and a loss to Columbus, your Minnesota Wild end their opening homestand of the season with their first tilt of six against the reigning Northwest Division champion Vancouver Canucks. Unfortunately the Wild are still in the Northwest so until the NHL continues to grow and get more teams west of the Mississippi their division goes through a team which is further from them than Miami. It also explains the late start time. Everyone knows a 5pm start time is too early for a divisional tilt although a 9pm start (or 10pm for those Wild fans on the East Coast) never is. I guess the keys to the game would be to show up and play well but it's the ****ing Canucks, who cares about wasting more time on these westerners.
I also think we beat them in 2003 or something like that and their fanbase is mad about it - or maybe that's Colorado? All those western teams blend together.
Some smarmy *******s plus Keith Ballard to even things out. I mean, you always need that one cool customer to beat some sense in the smarmy *******s, right? It's just not a movie hockey game without that. Of course, if things start to look south, this guy always makes an appearance:
Remain calm! All is well!!
The Wild, led by Senator John Blutarsky, are a ragtag bunch who have a good time despite being the worst frat on campus. On double-secret probation, this team is looking towards both making the best out of a crummy situation and taking out their good friends the Omegas Vancouver Canucks. With new players like Larry "Pinto" Kroger, old ones like D-Day and their buddies Otis Day and the Knights, this fraternity of second and third line men can go as far as their hearts and determination will take them.
Plus after Sunday's practice, you know Coach Niedermeyer Richards is sure to have these bunch of maggots in shape.
Look, it's Latendresse, pre-bag skate. Thank God it's just words and no one has a gun.
...well besides the mascot.
Spoke too soon. RIP Unicorn.

i'm kinda happy gillies is going to get called up and perhaps play. wouldn't mind a bit if it turned out like clutterbuck's call up! Not so happy about having to play burns on a broken foot--it's going to hurt his mobility and he won't be able to recover as well from his gaffes or lead the offensive charge. plus with schultz possibly out...
Going to be enjoying the game from right near the glass in the attacking corner (right over by IowaFan's old seats...RIP). Between this and next week's Caps tickets, that should more than make up for seeing what Richards and Russo called the Wild's worst effort last year (vs Chicago).
Much as he's a career grinder, I kinda want to see Gillies in the lineup, but that would likely mean Staubitz out, and against 'couver that's no good.
Sounds like T.Rich is putting Lats back on the second line. Good for him. Maybe...
Yes, it's Keith Ballard. Why would I not be excited to see Keith Ballard play?
1. 2-time national champ
2. From Baudette (I have family there and go hunting in the area)
3. Hip checks
4. Not a Luongo fan and believe if anyone will take him out, it's Keith Ballard
