I guess you would agree that Phaneufs value was at its lowest when he was traded too?

I never really understood why people were so high on Jay Bo.

- he doesn't hit/get physical
- his defensive game is overrated
- he's not an offensive dman or pp quarterback. He'll get you 40 points. That's good but nothing really to talk about.

40 points? Last year, in 82 games played, he only had 29 points, and I believe he has regressed even further this season. It's early but he coughs up the puck in his own end at an alarming rate and he can't complete a breakout pass to save his life. Hell, he coughs up the puck at an alarming rate when his team is on the power play. How anyone can identify Bouwmeester as having any trade value at this point is beyond me. If he was waived, he would clear. If Sutter can move him for anything, Sutter is the best GM in the NHL.

I made a mistake, Bouwmeester has another 4 years left on his contract with a cap hit of 6.680. I thought he only had 3 years to go on his deal.

If this is your conclusion after watching 50 Flames games last year, then it is probably a good thing you are a poster on a message board and not someone who manages or scouts hockey talent for a living. I suspect you are not looking at unobvious aspects of the game, like defensive positioning, when and when not to pinch, or when to make a breakout pass and when to start the rush yourself.

By the way, the more a player has possession of the puck the more giveaways they have. If giveaways make Bouwmeester a bad player I imagine there are several other defensemen you think are useless, starting with Dan Boyle.

Have you seen Kovalev or Regin this year?

I would be at least asking for Cowen and Weiroch.

Lol no way, Kovalev is **** and for 5m?

Regin played well in the playoffs last year but has not proven anything in the regular season and for an extended period of time. ( where does he fit on our team?, the 4th line? where he is not effective at all?)

Cowen is the only good piece in that entire trade.

We get boned.
