MSG 1st!

Well my Ranger Brotherhood, what can I say, I am still in shock and walking around with a perma grin. I drove in from Montreal on Friday to see my beloved Blue Shirts open the season and it was my first time ever walking into MSG. I am still in awe about the passion, I would say it is ten times more then anything I have ever witnessed here at the Bell Center. I don't think you guys realize how fortunate you are to be able to attend a game at the drop off a hat despite the frustrations this team can put us through. I also was at the Giants game on Sunday, again, the love and passion is just amazing to witness! Once again, I envy all of you who are able to take in these games on a regular basis

Nice to see you had a good time.. Us Canadian Ranger fans envy New Yorkers who get to attend any game they want! I attended my first ever game at MSG last February.. the game against Tampa Bay right before the Olympic break.. so glad they won.. made the trip even better. Hey Mayo, If ever I'm in Montreal (I'm in Ottawa) we should exchange numbers and go see a game haha

Glad to see you had a good time. The Garden is a pretty amazing place to watch a hockey game. Just a question for you Canadian guys: how did you come about being NYR fans? Or are you displaced NYers?

Basically, I was always a hockey fan in general, but mostly a big Lindros fan. Not a fan of any particular team. I was about 14 years old when he was traded to the Rangers... I've been a fan since. I know it's weird, and people laugh when I tell them this story.

I never was able to cheer for any other team.

A metric ton of people in Central Jersey are Rangers fans as well, homeslice. We'd like some credit.

Nah dude. I grew out of that phase haha. On the other hand, my Zherdev jersey is picking up dust in my closet.. I would gladly swap it depending on what yours looks like.

I remember my first game at MSG; I wouldn't shut up for the entire game because I was so hyper.

Sadly, I have soft spot for Russian players.. They usually don't last long with any team (except the great ones).

I went to Montreal in March, and I was lucky enough to go to a Bruins v.s Canadiens game. I've been to many games at MSG, but I thought it was nothing like Montreal. They go crazy there.....absolutley crazy. Every little play during the game, the place goes nuts.

It's also great that as a 19 year old, I'm able to buy a beer at the game too lol.

The Garden has a great environment....but it's nothing like Montreal, imo.

Everybody has got to see a game in both MSG and the Bell Centre.

Ive been to sporting events all over the world...bullfights in Spain...soccer games in England...Super Bowls..World Series games ...been to 15 NHL rinks....dozens of MLB stadiums..... seen a lot...there is NOTHING that compares to a Ranger game at MSG.
Imagine how special it would be if the bottom bowl of MSG want half empty most nights with the no show suits and their free corporate ( tax write off ) tickets..and if the team didnt suck.

The place is special.

Always been a Blue Shirt fan, I can't stand the Habs, I hate everything about the team, organization and mostly the fans. I loved the experience and was lusky enough to get good seats in section 110 row C. Hey Anisimov, any time you are in Montreal for a game let me know, we have four corporate seats in the reds!!

What are we considering Central Jersey? I grew up in Toms River and I don't know if that's central or south. I consider it central, but others don't.... It's all moot now since I'm living in Connecticut after doing 14 months in Buffalo... Damn, I move too much.

Agreed.

Also agreed. I've been going to the Garden since the early 90s and I have to say the place is absolutely special when the on ice product is a good one. I find the Garden to be almost unbearable nowadays though since the majority of the fans seem to place the blame for the team's suckitude incorrectly on a couple of players in particular. That, and their tendency to be very vocal, and in my opinion very wrong, about how to fix the mess makes me quite content to stay home and watch on TV. The ridiculous ticket prices don't help either.

To the OP, I'm not trying to rain on your parade here. I'm glad you had a good time, and even at what I would consider to be a low point currently the Garden is still a far better place to see a game than most of the other arenas I have been to.
