You guys are getting pretty high on your horse about all this. You hate the Canucks, there fans and apparently so does everyone else. If you guys are going to bash the Canucks, at least have some decency and class.

We are embarrassed by Rypien's actions, and many question the length of the suspension as being to lenient. However, to use this as an example of Cancucks fans as being "classless" is laughable.

Why has it not been mentioned yet that Staubitz was throwing forearms and elbows in the first altercation?

Hey, I don't make fun of the Cancucks. That's a classy group of individuals.

Yes, its quite evident that you are a classy individual yourself. Grow up.

Better yet, explain why its okay for Staubitz to throw elbows?

First, how do one bash someone and have decency and class at the same time?

Second, agreed. This incident has not changed my opinion about Canucks fans, as they were not involved.

Third, forearms and elbows are inevitable when throwing punches at somebody who is trying to dodge them (and yes, I would feel the same if Rypien threw them as well).

Fourth, class class classless class. Class classy class class class? Class.

I don't want to grow up. It's too much fun to be a classy child.

As to why no one has brought up Staubitz, maybe it's because the thread is about Rypien and this is the Wild board. Everything has a Minnesota slant to it and if you don't want to read that go to the NHL board.

well, if you mean at 0:15-0:16 mark, I don't even think his elbow touched Rypien's face.. Also, Staubitz probably did that because Rypien was holding his hand and he couldn't turn/move?

Yeah, I didn't see an elbow. I saw a punch that failed to connect.

because nobody cares about that unless the person is wearing a wristguard (*ahem* souray). It's just never successful or effective if someone is trying to do it. It isn't prohibited (or doesn't seem to be) so it's a non-issue. If he is concentrating on landing elbows eventually someone is going to catch him like boogaard caught Fedoruk.

What if there was a little kid, or a bunch of little kids around where that fan who was assulted was sitting?

As a hockey fan that attends live NHL games- it brings up concern. Canuck fans can attempt to point the finger at other teams and other decades (i.e. Tie Domi incident for example) but Domi or Torterella or any similar incident the player or coach never went out of their way to put their hands on an innocent fan.

I hope they throw Rypien out of the league. Rypien, Matt Cooke, the lot of them. I say this because they give hockey a bad name. Now it's on the news - "violence in hockey" with this Rick Rypien character. I, like countless other fans - love big hits, physical play, etc Just the disgusting goon stuff has to go.

By the way - nice thumping on 7uongo last night..he almost lived up to his name!

lol at all the people hating on Canucks fans. Okay there hypocrites.

As far as I'm concerned, Canucks fans are the only fans of a Canadian team that I have seen sing along with the American national anthem and the Canadian national anthem. Even in the playoffs.

Haven't seen that from any other team in the league.

Two things (to everyone):
1. Here's a quick primer on how to use there, their and they're.

2. This is not a Canucks, Leafs, Wild or any other team-bashing thread. If you want to discuss the merits of a team or a fanbase, do it somewhere else. I won't be so kind next time.

I'm a lawyer, so I can speak with some authority.

Many lawyers are decent people who make life easier for everybody, by expediting property transfers and resolving disputes.

However, some are just self-righteous A-holes who do nothing but cost society lots of money and forcing annoying changes.

If this guy gets a lawyer, you can bet every ticket price in the NHL will go up as each arena will be required to install guards between the runways and the fans.

You threaten litigation for no reasonable cause in this day and age...You're right that he wouldn't be nearly as harrassed if this hadn't happened in the internet age, but the internet makes it really easy for lazy people to voice their opnions and you have to realize that they will, indeed, express themselves. Granted it isn't very productive, but it shouldn't be too shocking. Personally i'm too lazy to even try to find his facebook, phone, email, address, etc. Again, I wouldn't threaten him but I'd say something as innocent as he did ("Way to be a greedy ******"). Shouldn't really bother him--i wouldn't expect him to grab my shirt but if he did I wouldn't sue.

edit: and from Russo's latest it sounds as though he's suing but it seems he feels put out from the negative calls, emails, etc. more than the actual incident that precipitated this little circus. Er...those are a result of you complaining. That is, you created the situation in which you feel harassed and put out. Shut up.
