There he managed to get 2 shots on goal in 5 games (all with the same linemates) and he was still unable to connect a pass. His one point came when he played with Lappy and Ebel where he dumped the puck in and Lappy hustled his but off to nock it in. He then went on a tear getting no shots and unable to connect a pass or receive a pass, no was he able to manage to get himself with in 5 feet of the puck.
Tell me this coach, who should he play on a line with? OH, and by the way, no one played with Allison last year. No one else had problems playing with Klatt, Luc, Army, Fro and even Barney for that matter. "If he played with the right guys he would be good again, we have to give him a real chance" What a bunch of utter crap. Dude is just not good. "If we had players like Ryan Smith and Mike York he'd be good again" If's and Butts, If's and Butts. You 2 crack me up, but I have to like your passion for our team. I guess that we will just disagree about your's and my friend Carter, even though he is not good.
WOW, did you watch the games? He dumped the puck in and Lappy knocked it in??? If I remeber correctly that was a pefect tic-tac-toe AVERY to CARTER to LAPPY...what game were you watching? I mean ya its not a big deal it was 1 point but your acting like he didn't deserve the point when he gave a perfect pass to LAPPY who was right infront of the net. Besides, that can you tell me who he played with and for how many games? He probably didn't play 3 games with the same line mates not to mention some problems our other players had like Straka just returning to the line up...Frolov missing some games late...Stumpel playing like crap and almost every night he was on another line so yes he didnt get a fair shot and I like some other fans want to see him be on a line for a long period of time with a full season ahead of him. What I meant by Allison is first of all unlike most of our other players he didnt have to many games and plus I was trying to say that if he plays with Ally he can put up 40-60 points in a season...the fact is I'm confident he can be a solid player and your not...oh btw dont forget about the hernia that couldnt have helped his game...

Yeah! We don't need a UN peacekeeper, we need Don King :lol

Only in America folks. Only in America.

You guys got me on that play, incredible play I remember it now. Then it was 11 straight loses and he became invisible like he does for 1/3 of each season. If you like the Kings being mediocre than so be it. You have fallen in love with his gritty leave everything out on the ice, don't stop til the whistle blows, never say die play that got the whole Staples center to stand on their feet and insist his jersey be put up there with the Great One. He is fantastic, almost as good as EBel was this year. In fact didn't he get most inspirational, he definitly deserved it if he didn't. My bad, must have been out of my mind or off my rocker to say that he stinks. Guess it's time for me to get a new pair of rosey colored glasses, do you know where I can buy some?

The only way I'd want the Kings to sign Carter is if the contract was with a low base with high incentives (i.e., a $750K-$1M base with a $2M bonus for hitting 55-60 points). Qualifying Carter would not really be an option.

Leetch, Barnaby, Nedved, and, to some extent, Simon played well for their new teams. Though, both the play of De Vries and that of Rucinsky was very poor.

Close, he mostly played with Smyth and Comrie. Comrie was the playmaker, Smyth was the gritty one (corners, along the boards) and Carter was the finisher (led the team in goals). Carters a great finisher, but thats about it. Without his linemates, he was invisible, but with someone to start the play and do the dirty work, he could put the puck in the net.

you spin it any way you want but those are the facts.
You forgot about the fact that he played with a sports hernia the whole time. I had the same problem (got the internal tear in december, got the surgury last week to fix it). You can still play and function, but boy can you feel it. Imagine your intestines coming out of a whole in your abdoman when you strain your muscles, and you have to manually push them back in with your hand.

It sounds like you guys got a faulty product in the trade. Dont be so quick to give up on him, unless you get a guy like Dvorak in return .

The thing is, i would have absolutely no problem giving Carter the benefit of the doubt - IF he played like a deadmarsh, st louis, or even klatt. Someone with heart, a true winner. Kings have had 15 games to evaluate Carter, which is more than adequate time for what some have described as 'the pillow'.

Hey, i'd like to give Carter the 82 game trial, but you do that for players who deserve that. Carter is not one of them.

I think many of you are reading too much into his sports hernia thing. Who said he was playing with it as a King? Speculation perhaps? He was playing ok in washington. Maybe he got the hernia after the season or maybe game 15 (?)The Kings know more than us, so i'm going to trust their decision.

Theres young players like Barney, Cammy, Brown who are itching to get in the lineup and the last thing they need is AM playing an underperforming stiff ahead of them.

It would make sense, if he was playing poorly, that he might have been injured. There is a better chance he got the injury playing hockey than anything after the season ended.

I read somewhere that AC complained about it to AM late in the season.
