Kyle I do remember Melynk being interviewed after the extension was announced saying he was happy he had convinced Murray to continue as GM. The word begging may be a stretch

You are like the wind Fuhr, constantly changing, the message your posts carry changing with the wins and losses.

Careful you don't hurt yourself jumping on and off the bandwagon

True, unless Melnyk is willing to send some contract to Binghamton.

actually if we're going to miss the playoffs, i'd rather it be this season... So many UFA, we could cash in on Prospects & picks.

-Philips would get us a first round pick (then resign him at free agency)
-Ruutu 3rd round pick
-Kovalev 3rd round pick
-Leclaire easily a second round pick for a team in need of a goalie (Philly)
-Shannon gets us a 5th round pick
-Campoli gets a 2nd round pick

Then we have Lee Winchester we can dangle too

That's what we were hoping for two years ago too, but Murray just resigned our trade chips. We won't be trading anyone at the deadline for picks, etc...

So it was media management by Eugene.

Maybe, but I do believe Melnyk really likes Murray and doesn't see the Sens problems as necessarily all the GMs fault.

I would hope though that if it becomes obvious a rebuild is definitely required, Melnyk gives the task to someone new.

Murray gets on my nerves. I used to like him but now I have a hard time defending him when talking about the team to other Sens fans.

Based on his track record, a trade will only hinder this team.

Any deal including Barker to Ottawa works for me. If I remember correctly, we were targeting him last year.

We need help on our blueline and they could use more help up front so they seem like a good trading partner.
