[GAME 6] RANGERS vs. MAPLE LEAFS | THU OCT. 21, 7:00PM @ ACC | TSN (HD)

Again never too early.... Let's do this.

Anybody want to take a crack at who should start in net against the Rangers?

How about the D's bottom paring... Komi/Gunnar or Komi/Lebda?

I imagine we'll get some people gunning for Armstrong after he put out Gaborik for a month last game.

Orr hopefully is in better spirits and is ready to drop the gloves against the Boogeyman.

the fact that we pretty much dominated them IN new york('cept for two soft goals)
i'd be surprised if we didn't win, and they're probaly not as confident because there not going to have gaborik at all.

my guess is 4-2 leafs

goals by kessel, kulemin(2), versteeg

I didn't realize that. So every Leaf game on TSN is shown coast to coast?

TSN isn't doing any regional games any longer.

I think things are gonna get ugly in this game. I suspect the Monster will start tonight.

Nice one although I guess that also means more Maguire.

Hopefully we win and keep this nice start to the season going.
But...I'm definitely not as optimistic as most people on this board right now.

The thing is that in the 5 games we've played, we've scored 17 goals. That is a great total. 3.4 average per game. But then you look at who has been scoring those goals.

Kessel = 5 goals
MacArthur = 5 goals

that comes to a total of 10 goals between these 2 players for about 60% of the teams total goals scored. I think it's pretty obvious neither will keep going at a gpg pace, that's just fact. So you've got the inevitable slow down of those two coming and unless our other players step it up (who have only scored 7 goals in 5 games), we're screwed.

Kulemin, Bozak, Versteeg, Grabo...they've got 2 goals between them in 5 games. That's REALLY bad. Think about it like this. We know Kessel and Clark is not going to score 82 goals each this season, so their goal pace is going to go down. If the two of them didn't start off this season so hot, and instead started playing at the pace they most likely will for the rest of the season (clark=20-30, Kes=40-50), we'd likely have a losing record right now.

So the 4 players I named above MUST offset the goals slowdown that Kessel and Clark will eventually have. I'm really not sure they can do that. I know a lot of people are high on Bozak, but I think the max he'll get is 50 points, with only MAYBE 15 goals. He's not a goal scorer at all people. And Kulemin...I found it funny how people were automatically projecting 25+ from him this season. What did he score in his 2 NHL seasons? I think predicting 20 in total from him is good (he might not even reach that). Grabo is just a mystery. And I think Versteeg is going to be the X factor. I think he has the tools to score 30 goals, and we are going to need him to produce more then he has if we're going to keep winning games.

Don't under-estimate the NYL!

If we can get some early pressure on them like in our previous games and get the first couple of goals then I see no reason why we shouldn't win. I also think that Gus should start.

On the bright side, we haven't really been getting too many goals from Kulemin, Versteeg, Grabo, Bozak, and our third line, so it's only a matter of time before they get going (Kulemin in particular).

Come out fast and score some for my fantasy team! About time our goalies to play a blinder

What I am afraid of is Lundqvist taking the game or Avery getting into our players' heads (like Komi last game)

Haha...

Not gonna lie there were times last year where I watched a TSN broadcast on tv with the volume muted and listened to the call on the radio.

We dominated that game in NY, so I'm calling a win for the Leaf's on Thurs.

The side stories will be interesting though. Komi vs Avery vs everybody. Orr gonna drop 'em this time? Armstrong needs to keep his wits about him out there, cause he just might be a target.

If our D continues to play the way it has the last few games we should be in good shape. That being sad, grabovski is due for a goal, even though he continues to skate to the center of the ice and tries to rip wristers through defenders.
