Funny, because Brent Burns is on our untouchable list as well!

I'd give up Zajac for Burns and a top 6 center.

D-men are more valuable than forwards. Devils would be sending Zajac+ not Burns+

he's injury prone and one concussion away from leaving the NHL. Stay away.

This is about the time we'll just go ahead and post the obligatory Brent Burns value post....
That conversation isn't just about Brent Burns, it's about just about every star player that comes up in discussion. The best part is always the end of the argument where the person first asking what it would take to trade him always says something along the lines of, "Well good luck trading him if that's what you're looking for!"

Instead of commenting about the offers other posters are making, what would you give up for Burns? You started this thread but I haven't seen any offers yet.... I hope the offer you'll come up with will be "rational".

It's easy to say that 3/4 of our roster are "untouchables". Try sticking your neck out there and see how it goes instead of judging every proposal.

Haha.

And no defense.

That is not exactly working well for the Ducks. They have one of the top lines in the league, yet they are drowing as a team because of their non-existent blueline.

Doubt it would be enough, but what about:

Tomas Fleischmann
Mathieu Perreault
2011 3rd Round

Brent Burns

Wild get a young top-6 forward in Flash, an NHL-ready prospect (4G, 5A in 21 games last season) with top-6 potential, and a 3rd round pick. Obvious downside is that Fleischmann is a UFA after this season, though I don't think it would be hard to keep him around.

Cullen better be able to play wing since you have him as one on each of your first two lines.

he played wing when Carolina won the cup so he is capable of playing wing

Minnestoa would still have a decent defense that could play a responsible defensive game, but that deal would never happen tho guys like Burns and Parise need to be overpaid for, to get Burns a team would have to give up a legit and proven young top 6 forward and its stupid unless you are drowning in young proven top 6 forwards which no one seems to be.

Yes, I was pointing out that your top 6 consisted of four players and Cullen twice. I thought the Devils were the only team who did that.

Minnesota and NJ don't really make sense as trading partners, as NJ's lack of center depth pretty much excludes Zajac from being dealt and neither Minn or NJ have the pieces to fetch Burns or Parise from their respective teams. NJ doesn't have anything the Wild would want short of the two previously mentioned players, while NJ isn't likely deal Parise for Burns+.

Burns for parise is the only trade that makes sense, im sure a 1 for 1 is out of question, especially cause each team needs that player for their club to succeed right now, but who knows, maybe later down depending how the season went something could be worked out.

Burns can also play forward as you Wild fans know.
