I'll be shocked if it does. That said, we have 3 solid lines right now. 4th would be more solid (imo) if Sutherby was in instead of Barch, but I'll take 3.

PP definitely needs to get going.

Nashville scares me, they look good to start the year and they'll be pissed about that OT loss. Gonna be a good one.
well yeah it won't last. Dallas is currently outscoring the opposition 18 to 6 at even strength for a 3.00:1 ratio. 17 of those goals were at 5 on 5 play, 1 was the OT winner against NJ. That ratio is by far the best in the league.

Looking at the historical leaders in this category from year to year we can see that outscoring the opposition at the rate Dallas has at ES simply isn't sustainable:

2009-10: Washington - 1.57:1
2008-09: Boston - 1.42:1
2007-08: Detroit - 1.41:1
2006-07: Detroit - 1.47:1
2005-06: Ottawa - 1.49:1

so yeah, the very best teams in the league are generally around that 1.50 mark, not 3.00 like Dallas is.

The good news is that even if Dallas can't keep it up, it's extremely rare for a team that outscore the opposition at even strength through the year to not make the playoffs. If you go back to any year historically and sort the teams by even strength scoring ratio it will basically give you the regular season standings.

The Stars continuing to dominate scoring at even strength is the best possible sign of future promise you could ask for.

After getting a chance to watch the game:

Benn was dominant. He looked like he really missed playing hockey.

The Benn line was dominant. They should absolutely stay together.

Wandell looks back and better than we've seen yet. Shades of Datsyuk. I also really like how he stood up for himself after getting pushed into the goal during the 2nd (I think) period.

While the top 2 lines only accounted for the Neal goal, they were creating quality scoring chances throughout and the importance of that shouldn't be discounted.

I'm starting to believe the Stars could be legit contenders as soon as next season.

Is that assuming Richards stays?

Yes assuming we can keep Richards and Lethonen doesn't get hurt. I think our forward group is a scoring line RW away from being Elite. Im confident that Lethonen isnt just on a hot streak but is in fact as good as anyone in the game when healthy. I'm also confident we are seeing at least marginal improvement in the defensemen themselves.

Hmmm. I hadn't thought the vote for the legalization of marijuana had even come up yet much less passed. Well, the more you know, as they say.

As individuals I've seen improvement. I haven't seen improvement in team defense. I don't think Daleys going to continue to suck as bad as he has so far. I think Crawford will eventually realize Fistric has earned more minutes and that should help as well. Next season we should swap out at least one, probably dmen (skrastins and daley) and thatll help shore up the weak defense. Its not going to be great or even good, but it can be adequate to win with teh pieces we have on offense and the potential for elite goaltending
